A few days ago I shared a post about the majestic Ranakpur Temple in India, highlighting its imposing architecture and construction details. However, on that occasion I did not show the visitors who bring this sacred place to life. Today I want to dedicate this post to them.
Hace unos días compartí una publicación sobre el majestuoso templo de Ranakpur en India, destacando su imponente arquitectura y detalles constructivos. Sin embargo, en esa ocasión no mostré a los visitantes que dan vida a este lugar sagrado. Hoy quiero dedicar esta publicación a ellos.
In the photos below, you can see the diversity of people visiting the temple – from local devotees to tourists from around the world, all marvelling at the beauty and serenity of the place. The atmosphere was vibrant and full of energy, with families, groups of friends and solo travellers exploring every corner of the temple.
The Ranakpur Temple is not only a testament to architectural skill, but also a cultural and spiritual meeting point. Each visitor brings their own story and perspective, enriching the experience of everyone present. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Traveling through the state of Rajasthan, I visited this stunning Jain temple located between the historic cities of Jodhpur and Udaipur. Built in the 15th century, this magnificent temple is a testament to the architectural prowess of the time.
Jainism, one of the oldest religions in India, has a rich history and deep spiritual teachings. I was honestly unaware of many aspects of this religion before this trip, and it was fascinating to discover them while exploring the temple.
Viajando por el estado de Rajastán, visité este impresionante templo jainista situado entre las históricas ciudades de Jodhpur y Udaipur. Este magnífico templo, construido en el siglo XV, es un testimonio de la destreza arquitectónica de la época.
El Jainismo, una de las religiones más antiguas de la India, tiene una rica historia y profundas enseñanzas espirituales. Sinceramente, desconocía muchos aspectos de esta religión antes de este viaje, y fue fascinante descubrirlos mientras exploraba el templo.
As I told you before, I was surprised by the security personnel who are watching the outside of the temple. I couldn't resist the temptation to take several photos of this gentleman. I published some of them previously and here are two more of this nice character.
Como ya les conté anteriormente me sorprendió el personal de seguridad que se encuentra vigilando el exterior del templo. No pude resistir la tentación de tomarle varias fotos a este señor. Alguna la publiqué anteriormente y aquí van dos más de este simpático personaje.
The entrance to the temple is from each of the four cardinal points, leading to the center where the deity to which it is dedicated is located: Adinath. In the images you can see the multitude of corridors that lead to different spaces, and in every corner there was a person.
La entrada al templo se realiza desde cada uno de los cuatro puntos cardinales, conduciendo al centro donde se encuentra la divinidad a la que está dedicado: Adinath. En las imágenes podrán observar la multitud de pasillos que llevan a diversos espacios, y en cada rincón se encontraba alguna persona.
This is how I came across this lady and her young daughter, who were making an offering to a deity. Although I don't know the details of the ritual, I was struck by their devotion. I saw them several times during my visit and observed them leaving a red flower and applying a yellow powder on a small sacred image. This act, although simple, reflected a deep spiritual connection and a tradition that has been kept alive throughout the centuries.
Así fue como me encontré con esta señora y su pequeña hija, quienes estaban realizando una ofrenda a una divinidad. Aunque desconozco los detalles del ritual, me llamó la atención su devoción. Las vi varias veces durante mi visita y observé que dejaban una flor roja y aplicaban un polvo amarillo sobre una pequeña imagen sagrada. Este acto, aunque sencillo, reflejaba una profunda conexión espiritual y una tradición que se ha mantenido viva a lo largo de los siglos.
I noticed that most of the visitors were Indian, which added a special authenticity to the experience. There were very few Western visitors; in fact, I think we were almost the only ones there at the time. This immersion in the local culture allowed me to appreciate even more the richness and diversity of Indian traditions.
Observé que la mayoría de los visitantes eran indios, lo que añadía una autenticidad especial a la experiencia. Había muy pocos visitantes occidentales; de hecho, creo que nosotros éramos casi los únicos en ese momento. Esta inmersión en la cultura local me permitió apreciar aún más la riqueza y diversidad de las tradiciones indias.
I was pleasantly surprised by how colorful and vibrant the women's outfits were. I watched them stroll around and chat animatedly with each other, creating an atmosphere full of life and joy.
Me sorprendió gratamente lo coloridos y vibrantes que eran los trajes de las mujeres. Las veía pasear y charlar animadamente entre ellas, creando un ambiente lleno de vida y alegría.
While searching the internet for information about the temple, I discovered that there are certain restrictions regarding clothing. Specifically, it is not allowed to show the knees, legs or shoulders. Fortunately, when I visited the temple, I unknowingly had my knees and shoulders covered, thus complying with the rules.
Also, as in all temples in India, it is mandatory to enter barefoot. Looking at the photographs, you can see all the people without shoes, as these must be left at the entrance and collected when leaving. This practice is not only a sign of respect, but also maintains the purity of the sacred place.
Mientras buscaba información en internet sobre el templo, descubrí que existen ciertas restricciones en cuanto a la vestimenta. Específicamente, no está permitido mostrar las rodillas, las piernas ni los hombros. Afortunadamente, cuando visité el templo, sin saberlo, llevaba las rodillas y los hombros cubiertos, cumpliendo así con las normas.
Además, como en todos los templos de la India, es obligatorio entrar descalzo. Al observar, en las fotografías, se puede ver a todas las personas sin zapatos, ya que estos deben dejarse en la entrada y recogerse al salir. Esta práctica no solo es una muestra de respeto, sino que también mantiene la pureza del lugar sagrado.
On my way out, I came across a lady selling flowers to visitors.
Al salir, me encontré con una señora que vendía flores a los visitantes.
Everyone wanted to take a photo at the temple; some posed like advertising models, while others took selfies with their families.
Todos querían tomarse una foto en el templo; algunos posaban como modelos de publicidad, mientras que otros se hacían selfies en familia.
The exterior of the temple is surrounded by lush vegetation, with numerous trees that create a serene and natural environment. The most surprising thing is that these trees were home to friendly monkeys, which added a touch of life and dynamism to the surroundings. These curious animals moved agilely between the branches, observing the visitors with interest and, sometimes, approaching in search of food or simply out of curiosity.
El exterior del templo está rodeado de una exuberante vegetación, con numerosos árboles que crean un ambiente sereno y natural. Lo más sorprendente es que en estos árboles se encontraban simpáticos monos, que añadían un toque de vida y dinamismo al entorno. Estos curiosos animales se movían ágilmente entre las ramas, observando a los visitantes con interés y, en ocasiones, acercándose en busca de comida o simplemente por curiosidad.
I guess this beautiful sculpture was created in their honour. The figure captures the essence and grace of these animals. It is a tribute that not only beautifies the surroundings, but also reflects the importance and respect they are held in this region. The sculpture blends in perfectly with the surrounding nature, creating a point of interest that attracts both visitors and locals.
Supongo que en su honor crearon esta hermosa escultura. La figura captura la esencia y la gracia de estos animales. Es un tributo que no solo embellece el entorno, sino que también refleja la importancia y el respeto que se les tiene en esta región. La escultura se integra perfectamente con la naturaleza circundante, creando un punto de interés que atrae tanto a los visitantes como a los locales.
This is where my visit to this beautiful and enigmatic place ended. Every corner I explored left an indelible mark on my memory. Without a doubt, this visit has been an unforgettable experience that I will always treasure.
Aquí concluyó mi visita a este hermoso y enigmático lugar. Cada rincón explorado dejó una huella imborrable en mi memoria. Sin duda, esta visita ha sido una experiencia inolvidable que atesoraré siempre.
