On a dry and sunny day like today outdoor activities are simply calling my name. You of course won’t be able to sunbathe on a sandy or a pebbly beach anywhere in North Europe at the start March. So yes, I totally get you for seeking out some other enjoyable, and why not slightly more active, ways to spend time here in Hastings for instance with family and friends.
There are fantastic easily accessible mini golf courses right here by Pelham, the main beach. There is kiosk that sells hot and cold drinks, ice cream, snacks and even fish and chips if you fancy that. The other side is where you get the golf clubs, balls and even a score card from after paying for the number of players in your party. A game for an adult currently costs £8.50.
There are three golf courses to choose from here starting with the kid friendly pirates golf, followed by a crazy golf and then the most difficult but the most fun of them all if you ask me, an adventure golf.
There are eighteen holes scattered around a pretty landscape including even a few with water features. Watch out as there are more than just the obvious waterfalls, geyser pools and ponds. Some of the totems can’t wait to spray your just styled hair or sneeze in your face.
I always recommend having a little look at the next hole and its surroundings, especially taking the incline into account. My partner and I usually discuss what challenges each themed hole hides before we take turns hitting the ball.
For those who haven’t played recently, don’t worry about it, take it easy and just enjoy the mini golf experience. Getting the ball in the hole should take you no more than six shots. The less it takes you to get it into the hole the better.
This is how the scoring goes too. So if you had to hit the ball twice to get it into the hole you then get two points which the score keeper puts down on the card. In the end the less points you end up with the better. If you are the player with the least number of points in your group then you just got something to celebrate as you won a mini golf challenge.
Last but not least you can even win a free game of golf if you get the ball into the top bonus hole here like some of us did as shown on the short video. You then receive a voucher with no expiration date, which entitles you to a complimentary game at a golf course here of your choice. So we better start planning our next visit!
