A Journey is best measured in Friends rather than Miles
Hello Everyone,
The journey to the Bay of Bengal cost - the beautiful Pondicherry.
Pondicherry is the most beautiful and loving place. Pondy as they call in short is an Indian Union territory. The Union territory is located in southern part of India, surrounded by the states of Tamil Nadu and the geography shares the same culture as of Tami Nadu.
The place has a bigger history and the history of Pondy recovered is only after the colonial period. The near by places are part of the history even before 3rd Century. The place was well known for its ports and the Market gateway to the southern Asia and many other sea routes.
The place Pondy was ruled by many famous kings and the main figures are from 4th century Pallavas, then the Chola kings to the 14th Century Vijayanagara Empire. in the late 16th century the French were successful in setting up a trading point. French made a tremendous commercial improvements for their trade and modernizing the Pondy together. Slowly the French created 5 ports that were the gateway to export the goods from India to European market, specially the precious stones and the jewelry art.
But the later years, French had an opponent - The Dutch, who fought for the piece of land for its importance. The war went down for 9 long years and finally the Dutch were successful in overtaking the French ruled Pondy. The history goes on, as the captured territory was handed onver back to French with a Treaty.
Then British conquered Pondy twice and returned it back to French at some treaty. Over all those years the city was filled with colonial buildings and French architecture.
Around 1954 the French handed over the French ruled territories to Indian government with a de facto transfer. From the day it belongs to Indian Union Territory.
And in todays day city is famous because of it geographical location and French influence of culture even today. And the same is the idea of our visit :)
Here I start with a beach picture of my friends. It was very exciting for all of us as all our places are far away from beaches. You can see the excitement on the below picture. I'm missing as I was the one capturing the moment.
And here is the place we stayed in, the good bye moment at the swimming pool. Put up a self timer for the picture.
Villa Escape In
The place is located in a very beautiful community. The Escape in is very close to the beach area and away from the Urban culture. The Villa had 6 rooms and a swimming pool inside. We took 4 rooms and the other 2 were not booked. So we were the only group in entire Villa.
Lets take a little photo tour inside the Villa and the rooms
The big beautiful mirror in the room.
This the big covered window. I loved the architecture and planning of the place. Open the curtains and you are seeing the swimming pool.
The stairs to the first floor where 3 more rooms were and big balcony view towards swimming pool.
The pop celling design and lightings right above the swimming pool.
And here we are Enjoying the swimming pool.
We had a great time in beach and the sun made us tired for sure. The salt water was a really big hurdle for all of us as we were not used to beaches more often. When we returned back from the beach, we wanted to relax, but the idea of relaxing in swimming pool was awesome. We had such a relaxing time. And want to remind you that none of us knew swimming except the little one.
The Selfie
We slept well after the swimming pool and Pondy beer.
Coffee was ready when we got up :)
Here are some photographs from the streets of Pondy market and Beaches.
