Location : Dashair Lake Summit
13779 feet above the sea level
A beautiful day when we finally made it up to the heavenly Dashir Lake right before the fall and that too in a single day Alpine Style. As in my previous post I have shared the whole journey of the expedition till the lake and this post is about the adventures that we faced making all the way till the base location that too before sunset and dusk in order to save ourselves form the harsh climatic conditions.
The alpine style expedition that we followed made it possible for ourselves reaching till the summit possible where in we didn’t even carried any such hiking equipment. It nearly too around seven hours straight reaching till the summit and the lake which we had not planned It was around 4:30 PM and was the time to descend, coming all the way form the route through which we came was nearly impossible because of the harsh conditions and falling of ice and rocks.
The temperature was also dipping really quickly and all our feet because of soft snow were wet because of the snow till our knees we were even really very tired, lack of energy and lack of water even caused all of us feel exhausted.
Making our journey through the snowy desert even increased our exhaustion. The journey way back was a lot to cover and our exhaustion was kind of stopping us. Staying over night without equipment was nearly impossible as a snow storm would hit the place at any minute. So we finally decided to just run down no matter what in order to reach at the safer place and thats what we finally did.
For a moment we all just forget about the route through which we came up over here because through that It was nearly impossible reaching down as it was way too much steep which now would be going to be with of extreme slope and the falling of rocks and snow.
So we finally decided to just hike down to the directions form which we came in just making our way all the way through the glaciers and extreme locations.
At this point snow was very soft and we were literally drowning in the snow as seen in the picture even the texture of the snow could be seen different we in such a situation that we can’t even go back and go through another way all that we could do was just descend down the mountain safely.
All that we could see in front of us was a bright evening sky just before the sunset we just had nearly about two hours of daylight and we didn’t even had torches with us neither food neither hot water or tea. For a while a thought came into our mind that we regret choosing this pathway where at a certain points there was dead end either jumping off a glacier without and safety or equipment or do nothing as there was no option.
We were figuring out our way so that we could reach down safely quite a few times we even had to return back form the dead ends discovering the other route.
This was the location nearly steep down taking us all the way down to the steep dead end, the only option that we had was to descend down all the way form this place and the head towards north west direction making all the way to the altitude a bit lower than the one we were. We literally had no idea about the location through which we were going we were just putting our lives at risk and were making our way out.
By walking over the feet of snow my legs were all wet and and it felt like that they were freezing. I was even not able to lift them properly it felt like that they were all numb. I decided to take a small break and cleaned my shoes which were all covered up with snow. It felt like that my legs were all swollen because of the freezing snow but we didn’t had any option rather than reaching to the basecamp.
It had been around two ours running down towards the direction of the basecamp location and when I looked back it was really unbelievable to see that form which place we had came to this location all the way. Crossing the glacial rivers which were all frozen, Walking over the frozen icy glacier with legs all numb and totally exhausted.
We had to cross and hike over these cliffs of rocks in order to make our way all the way till below. As per that geographical location there used to be a glacial river at this place which was now all dry and after the first fall this whole region would transform into a glacier and a steep one.
Snow was nearly about four to five feet as this location and at a certain location it was nearly about nothing except the loose rocks which were all falling when ever we put pressure over them. It was really a tough experience guys, hiking will the numb legs in order to reach safely.
All that we could see was just a long stretch of same location like the one that we crossed, there were no signs of the route through which we came thats why there is no fixed route to this magical heaven as the geographies changing on its own after every single fall and making this region most isolated in the whole valley.
As I looked back this was the place through which we came and reached till this point, crossing glaciers which were all dry, and steep mountains it was really the most difficult task of the whole journey. Maybe it was because of the exhaustion or maybe because of the fear of reaching at the base came.
Finally after descending continuously form more than three hours we finally came to the altitude a bit lower than what we were and even as per our plan now we had to just walk by the side of this mountain to the direction where we were headed towards.
The snow was still nearly till our knees and my legs were all numb at a certain points I thought like that I should take some rest but we can’t as we were getting far far form the place now reaching till the basecamp became our motivation.
With the heavenly views like this even our exhaustion turned into enthusiasm and the risk factor and making our way all the way with no idea was kind of fun in the end being left over with nothing except what we were doing.
The water flowing through the narrow cliffs were all frozen and turned into crystals as seen in the picture.
We still had a lot to cover in order to just reach to the direction where our basecamp destination was It was really a life time memory and I was taking pictures of every single aspect of this dream so that I can share stories and experiences like these with you guys!
We were left up with an hours sunlight and half and hours more daylight, the sun was just over our heads giving us that warmth that we needed in times likes these.
From this place we could now see the peaks which were visible form our starting location which meant that we were getting closer to our destination and we had finally made it up till more than half of the journey return through that route of nowhere.
Here we were in the Middle of nowhere. Just right between the two Himalayan Ranges.
After walking and making all our till this place were were so close to our destination and the road was also seen visible by which there was the first basecamp. We had to really be very careful descending down the mountains as the slope was extremely steep.

6:13 PM we finally made our expedition all the way to the base point. We were extremely tired and exhausted my legs were all numb but anyways we had made it up guys! All the way this expedition possible in a single day Alpine Style.
