El domingo pasado, hicimos un pequeño paseo por el bonito pueblo El Hatillo, en el municipio que lleva el mismo nombre, en Caracas. Está ubicado al sureste de la capital caraqueña. Este bello pueblo mantiene su tradición arquitectónica, lo cual lo ha llevado a ser declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional y es uno de los centros turísticos más importantes de la Capital.

Last Sunday, we took a little walk through the beautiful town of El Hatillo, in the municipality of the same name, in Caracas. It is located southeast of the capital of Caracas. This beautiful town maintains its architectural tradition, which has led it to be declared a National Historical Monument and is one of the most important tourist centers in the capital.

Al llegar a El Hatillo, sientes que te estás sumergiendo a otra época, como si estuvieses viajando al pasado, ya que sus casitas están pintadas con alegres colores. Además, disfrutas de un clima fresco de montaña y en la mayoría de las ocasiones, hace bastante frío. Sus calles son estrechas y de lado a lado te consigues con tiendas de artesanía típica nacional, restaurantes para todos los gustos y presupuestos. Puedes pasar el día recorriendo sus calles y sus tiendas.

When you arrive at El Hatillo, you feel that you are immersing yourself in another era, as if you were traveling to the past, with its little houses painted in happy colors. Besides, you enjoy a fresh mountain climate and most of the time, it is quite cold. Its streets are narrow and from side to side you get with stores of typical national crafts, restaurants for all tastes and budgets. You can spend the day walking its streets and stores.

Este pueblo es famoso por su festival de música anual, en donde convergen distintos géneros musicales y cada temporada vacacional (Carnavales, Semana Santa, Navidades), se llevan a cabo múltiples actividades en la plaza para todas las edades. En Carnavales, siempre se hace un concurso de disfraces; en Semana Santa, tienen la costumbre de realizar una representación del Vía Crucis. En vacaciones de verano, hay infinidad de actividades para los más pequeños; concursos, bailes y mucha diversión. En Diciembre, se lleva a cabo la representación de un Nacimiento Humano, con todos sus personajes: La Virgen María, San José, El Niño Jesús, Los Tres Reyes Magos y el Espíritu Santo.

Todo esto, acompañado de música alegre, bandas que tocan en vivo, mucho color y alegría.

This town is famous for its annual music festival, where different musical genres converge and each holiday season (Carnival, Holy Week, Christmas), multiple activities take place in the plaza for all ages. In Carnivals, there is always a costume contest; at Easter, they have the custom of performing a reenactment of the Stations of the Cross. In summer vacations, there are many activities for the little ones; contests, dances and lots of fun. In December, a representation of a Human Nativity takes place, with all its characters: The Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, The Child Jesus, The Three Kings and the Holy Spirit.

All of this is accompanied by joyful music, live bands, lots of color and happiness.

Y como todo pueblo típico venezolano, este mágico lugar tiene su plaza central con la estatua de nuestro Libertador Simón Bolívar. La plaza, como todas las plazas de los pueblos en Venezuela, tiene por nombre "Plaza Bolívar". Es en esta plaza, donde se celebran todos los eventos a los que hice mención más arriba.

And like every typical Venezuelan town, this magical place has its central square with the statue of our Liberator Simon Bolivar. The square, like all the squares of the towns in Venezuela, has the name "Plaza Bolívar". It is in this square, where all the events I mentioned above take place.

Alrededor de la plaza, está la Iglesia, la Casa Parroquial y un sinnúmero de tiendas y restaurantes, para satisfacer hasta el paladar más exigente.

Around the square, there is the Church, the Parish House and a number of stores and restaurants, to satisfy even the most demanding palate.

En el pasado, había un autobús bastante antiguo y pintoresco, que por poco dinero, te hacía un recorrido a través de todo el pueblo. Pero desde hace un par de años o quizás más, debido a la gran crisis económica, este autobús dejó de existir.

Sin embargo y a pesar de ello, el pueblo sigue vibrante, pujante y regalando alegría y sonrisas a todos los turistas y vecinos del municipio. Puede decirse con honestidad, que es uno de los lugares más seguros de Venezuela.

In the past, there was a rather old and picturesque bus, which for a small fee, would take you through the whole village. But since a couple of years or maybe more, due to the big economic crisis, this bus has ceased to exist.

However, and in spite of this, the town is still vibrant, thriving and giving joy and smiles to all tourists and residents of the municipality. It can be honestly said that it is one of the safest places in Venezuela.

Este fue nuestro paseo del domingo 01 de Noviembre 2020, en horas de la tarde, cuando el frío comenzaba a descender en el pueblo. Si no conoces el pueblo del Hatillo, te invito a conocerlo y a disfrutar de sus bondades. Te aseguro que pasarás un día de relax, en donde la buena vibra siempre estará presente en tu corazón.

This was our tour on Sunday, November 1, 2020, in the afternoon, when the cold began to descend on the village. I assure you that you will spend a day of relaxation, where good vibrations will always be present in your heart.
