As a tour guide in Bali, I usually show my clients around. But on a recent trip to Wapa di Uma Hotel in Sidemen, the roles were reversed. My clients wanted to show me their favorite hotel because I had never been there before.
I arrived at Wapa di Uma Hotel and to meet my clients in the lobby. I was about to pick them up to transfer them to other hotel. But, my client said to me, "Come, I'll show you around the hotel." Jey, my client, was very excited to show me around.
We started our walk down a concrete path from the lobby into beautiful gardens. There was a lotus pond on one side and many colorful flowers growing everywhere. The hotel rooms are in pavilions spread out along this path.
We walked through the gardens and reached a big three-floor Balinese-style bamboo building with a thatched roof. This is where the main restaurant and pools are located. As soon as we got to the first floor, I was captivated by the infinity pool. Beyond the pool, there was an amazing view of rice fields, a river, and hills in the distance.
My client then suggested that there was an even better view upstairs. So, we went up to the second floor, where there was another pool. My client still insisted that the best view was on the third floor. We walked up the stairs to the third floor, where the dining hall and restaurant are. It was midday, and I saw people having lunch while enjoying the view. From up there, I could see both pools, the rice fields, the valley, and the river far away.
My clients also showed me a bamboo yoga hall near the first building. This yoga hall, also with a thatched roof, is on the second floor. It was a peaceful and beautiful place, perfect for yoga and meditation.
That was the end of the tour. It was short, but I enjoyed it. I remember saying wow when I saw the view from the top floor at the restaurant. Indeed, it was a stunning view this hotel has.
