Another Getaway trip from me. This time it is closer to home. My first ever camping trip.
This campground is only more or less an hour drive from Cebu City. It was my first visit to this location and my first time sleeping in a tent.
Yes, I have never tried staying overnight in a tent before. Every time we travel to the beach or anywhere that we can get a tent, I always want to book a room. Before you pass judgment on me, haha.😂
Anything that crawls is one of my greatest fears! So just thinking about what those crawling things outside the tent are made my imagination run wild.
But, because of the lockdowns. I've been itching to go on trips with my friends, and this is exactly what they have planned, so I went for it.
I heard about this place in the past and I always thought we needed to hike up in the mountains to get there, but I was wrong. You can drive straight to the campsite. Another way is to take a bus from South Bus Terminal to San Fernando, then ask a local tricycle/motorbike to take you to Bacalla Campsite.
We were invited here by a friend who knows the owner of this place. Since it was temporarily closed when we visited, we were the only group here. The place has no phone service, one thing that we liked since we were able to just enjoy ourselves. It feels good to not be on your phone. Just a good talk and bond with friends.
In the woods, we pitched a tent. It's a good thing I have buddies who can put up a tent. Others are putting up their hammocks. We barbecued dinner over an open fire in the center of our small camp. We ate, joked, and simply enjoyed ourselves.
We ended up not staying for the whole night. We head back home past midnight. I’ve mentioned some of my friends only relied on their hammocks and guess what? It was pouring rain just before we decided to sleep. I think the universe just does not let me have my first overnight yet in a tent. Maybe another camping trip is meant for me.
