Hi friends.
I traveled to Holguín in 2011 with some friends for work reasons. We took the opportunity to take a tour of the city, known as the city of parks for its large number of green spaces. I was impressed by the cleanliness of its streets and the architecture of its historical buildings.
One of the places we visited was Calixto García Park park, where his monument is located.
We also admired the cathedral of San Isidoro, a jewel of Gothic style that houses a rich cultural history. At night, we had fun in Calixto García park, the heart of the city and meeting point for Holguineros.
Holguín is a city full of charm and traditions. In the center of the city you can see many buildings from the colonial era and from the beginning of the century.
The local population is characterized by being cheerful, friendly and very active. It is not uncommon to see the streets, parks, public buildings, shops and the wide adjoining portals, with abundant presence of people.
While I was taking photos around the Calixto García Park, I was able to capture some typical scenes of Cuban life, such as a young girl who celebrated her 15th birthday with a ride in a convertible car. I thought it was a very beautiful and original tradition.
The trip to Holguin was very nice and interesting, but I also wanted to visit other tourist places in the province, such as Bahía de Naranjo Natural Park, an ideal place to enjoy nature and wildlife; or Guardalavaca beaches, Banes or Cayo Saetía where you can practice diving or snorkeling. I hope to return someday to this beautiful land.
