You may be richer than me,
but you will never be free like me
Hello.
I'm traveler
who is finding 'Humanism' in
'Capitalism'
6-1 day
I arrived to 'Borgarfjörður Eystri', a town on the northeast end of Iceland, on a hitchhiking. I really didn't know anything about here, but this place is home of Puffins, a bird that symbolizes Iceland. It's hard to find the area where this puffin lives. It was so lucky!
After having a nice dinner with Kevin and Ann last night, I spent a day at the campsite. Thanks to them, I came into the camping site office together and recharged the electronic devices.
This place is about a kilometer away from the village, 'Borgarfjörður Eystri'. Unexpectedly, many tourists know the location and come.
Puffins looks very sad. I have a look that reminds me of my grandmother. Another memorable thing is that seagulls also live near here, and when the puffin catches fish, they had watched it and then tried to take it away. Puffin has a very small house with whole and often escapes to a house where relatively large seagulls can't come in.
Kevin and Ann suddenly took out GoPro action camera, talked a few things over the video, and gave me interviews about how I felt about seeing Puffin, where we were going.
The next stop was the 'Detifoss Falls'. The waterfall is said to have the most powerful fall power in Europe.
It's dripping down like water is being sucked in, and in reality, with a grand sound, my mind and sprit would be going to fall down along the waterfall. Haha
I wanted to make a special memory for their newly married couple, so I offered to take a picture with the concept I wanted. The concept was hide-and-seek. Thank you for your kind response. Thank God you liked it.
After that, we went to 'Hvrir'. This place, where sulfur gas vapor comes out of the ground, smells like a fart from eating rotten eggs.
There was simply a picture of how geothermal and sulfur gas were made. It's written in English as well as Icelandic!!
Kevin & Anne asked me to go to restaurant in Myvatn to have a meal together. I've never had a meal at a restaurant because I know the high prices in Iceland, but I followed along because it was a trip with them. And then I was looking at the menu... Ugh... I simply ordered an open sandwich... 14 USD! ᅲᅲ
Kevin ordered a fish dish, but I think it cost about 40 USD ...It just came out fish with a salad. It's well cooked, but Iceland's prices are scary!!
Anne ordered goulash, a traditional Hungarian dish, which cost about 25 USD. Usually, Iceland sells a stew with lamb in it as a similar dish to this goulash (mainly in a gas station), which tastes a bit unique, but it's worth trying. Of course it's expensive...Hehehehe
They're so cheerful!
They wrote their bucket-list in Iceland by hand on the back of a car covered with dust. They checked where want to go, what need to see.
After eating at the restaurant in the Myvatn, Kevin & Anne decided to go to the 'Myvatn nature baths', which is hot springs like a 'bluelagoon', and I decided to take a look around.
But there's nothing to do, Myvatn was a quiet... Besides, it's a cloudy day and dark... So I hitchhiked and arrived to 'Myvatn nature baths'.
The people who gave me a ride were French. I think everyone traveling in Iceland is very relaxed. When I hitchhiked in Croatia, I was rejected by the driver many times and heard, "It's dangerous to ride a stranger, it could be stolen, you understand?" Compared to other countries, Island is easy to hitchhike.

The weather was not very good. The picture's ruined.I met Kevin and Ann here again
I was supposed to come back with Kevin and Ann when I left, but I couldn't find them in the parking lot because I was confused. So I hitchhiked other car. Thank you for the Korean people who gave me a ride!
I left a message in their car and disappeared. The camping site was more expensive than I thought, so I looked around and camped in the nearby mountain.
Thank you, Kevin and Ann!
