You may be richer than me,
but you will never be free like me
Hello.
I'm traveler
who is finding 'Humanism' in
'Capitalism'
13th day
Today, I'm going to introduce a good fish buffet 'Sjávarbarinn'.
I took a look around 'Reykjavik', the capital of Iceland and In the map above.
Harpa is a concert hall. The building looks nice, so it'd be nice to drop by. Hallgrimskirkja is a strangely shaped church, like a pipe. And to the south, there is the domestic airport and the Perlan water power plant. There's an observatory and a Kringlan shopping mall.
Perlan, as introduced above, is a water power plant and the observatory. A French friend who used to live in Iceland explained that it was the same as a heating company.
You can come up to the 5th floor for free. I remember that there was an entrance fee to the special space. Many people took a rest at the cafe on the fifth floor.
The weather wasn't so good on the day I visited. It also serves as an observatory, many people used to visit. I'd been here in winter, and I remembered that I was shivering.
The Hallgrimskirkja Church, one of Reykjavik's landmarks with a mysterious exterior architecture. From the side, the structure is similar to that of a regular cathedral, which looks like a pipe organ when viewed from the front.
There is a Vietnamese pho restaurant near this church. It's a bit expensive, but there's a good place.
Iceland's Reykjavik is also considered a living city of music and art. So it is famous as a city where many artists gather. There are unique graffiti on the street. A small live pub gathers bands.
It was an interesting project and installation art. I thought it's a similar campaign to point out the environmental pollution problem.
This is Prime Minister's Office, a government office in downtown. You can see Iceland's unique architecture with a clean and modern feel.
Let's go to 'Sjávarbarinn', the fish buffet I was going to introduce. The port is devided old and new in Reykjavik, but the buffet restaurant was locatated near the old port.
Nearby old port, there was the restaurant 'Sea Baron', You can eat many foods here.
The representative menu was lobster soup and whale meat steak. Whale meat was more expensive than 2.5 USD per 1 piece, and it's a little cheaper if you order a loaf(150 grams). The lobster soup was sliced into tomato soup. It's a bit salty.
Walking a little further along the coast past the 'Sea baron' restaurant and past the old port, you'll see the buffet, I was about to introduce. It looked like this. I came here after seeing on the internet blog and I was looking forward to it.
Store name: Sjávarbarinn
Store Address: Grandagarurur 9, 101 Reykjavkk, Iceland
Buffet price: 3,600 ISK (30 USD)
There was a small gallery, and there were many interesting paintings. It's also fun to see paintings.
Before I put my luggage in my seat and paid for it, I looked around first to see what foods were there. I though this side has various salads.
You can see various chips, sauces, and desserts.
What's this?
This is an expensive whale meat smoked and dried. It's like pickled beef jerky. It's smoked with seasoning, so it's much less fishy and delicious than grilled meat. It was so tasty and worthy to pay!
In addition, there were potatoes, rice, and fried fish!
It's a happy day. I'd never eaten it like this in Iceland since I started camping trip.
I got a dry firewood and light the flint with a lighter, blow it up and raise the fire, and then if I failed for two hours... I remembered just eating toast bread with nutella on it.
You have to pay extra for the lobster and order it separately. By the way 2 Korean travelers gave me lobsters at the place where I just happened to go, looking at my poor, miserable skeleton haha..!!
After a pleasant meal, I hitchhiked the car to the airport because I had to take an early morning flight the next day. A kind Icelandic guy gave me a ride. Thank you!
It's a remote area, but I found an electrical plug somewhere. The habit of charging an electronic device is always important for traveling.
If You visit to a good place, but the camera battery is running low? It's crazy... So I used to prepare 3 portable batteries. I had 3 extra batteries for GoPro and cell phones each.
I'm ready to sleep at the airport.
This is the last episode of the summer trip in Iceland.
Next time, I will introduce winter trip in Iceland.
