You may be richer than me,
but you will never be free like me
Hello.
I'm traveler

'Capitalism'
Summer of June 2016
14 days in Iceland.
1 of 5th day
[Höfn] - [Breiðdalsvík]
I had a good camping trip with Jeff and Josseline, who gave me a ride the night before. I failed to make a fire by myself every time, so I ate toast bread with chocolate mousse, but the night before, I had a hearty dinner with them, which was incomparably more than a humble dinner.
Today, we're going to go further east from the 'Höfn'.
This city is famous for Lobster Festival, which is held in June and July. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the festival was already over. I wanted to eat lobster, but It must be very expensive.
If you go further east from Höfn, you can reach the "Old Viking Village" located near Vestrahorn Mountain. I don't know exactly where it is.
Jeff and Josseline's portable stove broke down and stopped by the campsite for a while. This place can charge the car with electricity and water, camping and taking a shower. There's a charge of about 10 euros per person, and there's a separate charge per hour for showers.
It weighs 84g in a very small size, and it costs almost 52 USD. It's so small that it's easy to carry around!
This place has a pot for making coffee and soup. Of course, cooking utensils such as pots and pans should be taken separately.
Do you know how to take a free shower when camping in the summer of Iceland? It is to go to the swimming pool. There's a system where you can swim hard and take a shower for free at about three to five euros per person with riding water slides.
The couple decided to go to the swimming pool, and I decided to stop by the mart to buy emergency food and move back.
If you find it in Europe or any other countries, stay away from it! It's bisket 'Digestives', which is put caramel on top of chocolate again. It's sweet, but if you eat it, you get addicted to it.
When I lived in England, I used to buy it for about 2 pounds (2.4 USD) and sometimes even a pound during on the discount, but Iceland's for 3 USD, which is also expensive.
Since we're in Iceland, we should eat yogurt! Especially, this brand Skyr is famous. Of course it's more expensive than other countries also.
Wow, it's only 450 grams of canned ham, and it's almost 9 USD. what's inside...?
It's a dried vegetable flake that's so useful for the campers I introduced earlier! It tastes good, is nutritious, and is a must-have item if you put it in when making soup! The price is only 2.4 USD. It's really useful, becuase it's light and have not so much volume.
This is the garlic marinated in spicy sauce, which was a popular menu during dinner last night!
Besides, if you're a primitive camping person like me, the oil inside becomes an important ingredient to make fire with the flint!!
Hitchhike again!! I arrived at the crossroads of the highway from the entrance to town. Icelandic girl gave me a ride. She was very kind indeed.
But this crossroads... I had waited for an hour, but I couldn't catch a car.
The road ahead is lined with such a wonderful road...!!! Who will come to pick me up?! It's summer, but by the time the cool breeze of Iceland winds around my body,
People, who I often saw a lot of time, stopped the car in front of me. This white car looks unforgettable...
"Hey, why are you still here? Let's go now." Jeff and Josseline who spent time last day, picked me up again. I guessed it's fate.
Isn't it a car that will be memorable?
On top of the car, as I introduced in my last trip, They equipped it with a gopro action camera, so that it can capture the scenery of Iceland where the car runs. Sometimes they don't bring a GoPro camera when they park, and they just leave it on the car and go around freely. I warned them if somebody steal it!
Anyway, they has been looking for hidden places as me. Travel agencies only go to famous places, but individuals go everywhere. So I prefer to use hitchhiking.
This is a freshwater lake next to the village of Breivdalsvík, and when we first arrived and looked at it, the wind-induced sandstorms made it look like an open-air hot spring, so we ran excitedly. It was just a breeze. But it was so cool to see the reflection on the waves. I think it was better without people because it wasn't a tourist destination.
It's like a pictorial. I was so envious that the pictures of the couple came out well. I shouldn't come alone next time.
They came on a trip together, but I thought I was disturbing their trip too much, so I decided to leave. I was so grateful of them and said "good-bye" and kept hitchhiking.
