You may be richer than me,
but you will never be free like me
Hello.
I'm traveler
who is finding 'Humanism' in
'Capitalism'
This is a journey from Vik, famous for the Black Sea in southern Iceland, to Skaftafell(glacier), Jökulsárlón(glacial lakes), and the Vatnajökul Ice Cave.
Last night, with the help of Chinese guys who gave me a ride, I was able to get into the hotel room and slept with a mat on the floor.
When we were supposed to leave early in the morning, we got up, washed our faces briefly, and they went to have breakfast at the hotel, and I prepared breakfast by myself.
I ate bread with jam, sausage, cheese, and nuts and it was warm and delicious. It's a relief that you didn't eat in a cold outdoor place shivering.
Vik was a snow-covered, white, dark blue world on a sun-capped day. The eyes reflected the colors of the sky. I can't believe this is a beautiful city covered with grass and flowers in summer.
Before we were leaving, we tried to out gasolin into the car.
There are two major gas station companies in Iceland, the most popular of which is N1.
If you rent a car and plan a trip, you will be able to refuel, but N1 gas station has a discount card.
I'm not sure if you get the discount card from the rental car company or at the N1 gas station, but there is a discount card.
But most people don't know how to use it exactly. There is a procedure for scratching a discount card on a gas terminal before refueling or before calculating the fare. Don't forget to get a discount.
In 2015, when I traveled, the costs we got discount, was 1.2 USD per liter.
If you rent a car, you must bring a map of the gas station!
The weather is bright in summer, and it's crowded with tourists, so it's easy to get help at any time, but in winter, the oil runs out on the way. This is a problem that may soon be directly linked to money and death. So travelers traveling inland in winter carry extra oil and tires in their cars.
The price of a Red Bull can at a convenience store next to gas station was 355 krone(3 USD). As expected, gas stations have no mercy. Gas station prices were included, but I was very surprised to see this.
Anyway, today's journey begans pleasantly. We are going to see a set of three kinds of glaciers, glacial lakes, and ice caves in southeastern Iceland. I have applied for a tour of the ice cave. The cost was about 110 USD.
Doritos was a must for traveling. One of the joys of my trip was Doritos. When I was traveling to Turkey, I was addicted to it and ate it every day, but I couldn't stop eating it even though my stomach hurt.
This is one of the most popular waterfalls in Iceland, which is crowded with tourists, and it is froze in winter. I think it's better to see the waterfall in summer.
Run and run again~ Can you see something sky blue in the middle?
It's the glacier, 'Skaftafell'. The good thing about Iceland was that there's no admission fee, so you can watch it for free!!
However, only four-wheeled car can reach to Skaftafell, because it's tough to go to see, and if it's a rental car, I hope you can go if you have insurance. There were so many rocks and puddles, so it's rough. Our car was moving up and down even though it was suv.
This was Jökulsárlón, a glacial lakes. It will have to melt more in summer than in winter, but it seemed to melt a lot if it has been affected by global warming recently. When it gets dark, the sky was blue like the second picture, and the glacial lakes were blue, so you can experience the whole world turning blue.
If you go to the beach opposite the lake, you can see the piece of glaciers. I went up on the glacier and took pictures were taken. No one was there, so I used tripod.
Next was the long-awaited 'Vatnajulkul Ice Cave'. Chinese guy didn't sign up for a tour, so they said they would go to the hotel first, and they took me to the tour meeting place.
The Ice Cave wass located not so far from the glacial lake. There's actually no entrance fee here, so if you know the location, you can come here personally without paying the tour fee.
Instead, you must wear safety devices such as helmet. This is because if some of the melting glaciers fall from the top, there could be a life-threatening accident.
Isn't it cool? A cave made of ice...The cool ice cave I've been longing for in the travel magazine. But I think it's right to describe it as a 'mudslide'. There's really nothing special about the ice cave. Never pay for a tour.
Tourists who paid for tours in places, tried to make a picture that they didn't miss the tour fee. Since I had GoPro, a wide-angle lens, the dark light shone on me using the flash of my cellphone, and set a timer with GoPro to make the most of the space.
The review of tour : Let's not pay for the Icelandic ice cave tour!
