Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido), Maldives, Indonesia (Bali and Yogyakarta), I was going through my past travels to see which would be the next interesting country or city to share, and I finally shortlisted New York, USA!
Some years ago, I actually was assigned to a work trip to New York. Excluding transit, it would be my first visit to the USA and it was exciting that I will get to experience New York. However, the downside of work trips was that my days were packed with meetings and there was limited time for sightseeing. Fortunately, very fortunately, there was a weekend in between the work meetings, which meant I had just two days to explore New York, and hence, this upcoming series is called "Speed Running Through New York"!
This was my first part of the series:
USA - Speed Running Through New York: Top Of The Rock
We continued from where we left off in the earlier post of the series, and this time I headed for the American Museum of Natural History. This was an interesting visit because there were many interesting exhibits in there. And for me, it was especially exciting for me because this museum was actually somewhat featured in a famous movie, i.e. Night At The Museum. I have watched the movies and I was able to see many of the similar exhibits that were shown in the movie, over here in the museum itself.
A very crowded entrance because not only was this a tourist attraction, many students and families would visit this place too!
Right where I entered the museum, I was greeted by this huge dinosaur exhibit! It's very big if you compared it to the humans in the photo!
Another one! Was this Brontosaurus or something? Haha.
I snapped this photo because this reminded me of the movie. Those who watched the movie would know, right?
They had an aquatic section where there were many sea and water creatures. There were really just too many exhibits to show every single one, so I thought it sufficed to show the main hall with the huge whale exhibit!
They also had sections where there were many other animal exhibits. Will they come alive at night, just like in the museum, hmm, no one knows. Hehe!
More animal exhibits! They looked so real at times...
Americans would probably know this person because he was an important part of the history. For someone who is not an American, I only know he is Theodore Roosevelt. He also featured prominently in the movie as well!
And finally we were out! This was the Group Of Bears exhibit which was also located in the Central Park area. There were many museums in this area but I didn't have the time to actually cover so many places!
All in all, it was an awesome visit to American Museum of Natural History. I am usually not a fan of museums, but this was linked to a movie that I enjoyed so there was an additional element of excitement. I lost count how many hours I spent inside the museum, so if you are in New York, I would highly recommend a visit to this museum!
So that's all I have today! Have you been to New York or American Museum of Natural History before? Let me know in the comments below!
