I was just checking my picture folders and saw a folder named Arkadia Mall. There are so many good memories in this name. It was one of the coolest malls in Cairo located near River Nile. A good attraction for locals and tourists.
In my stay of 4 years in Cairo, we went there multiple times. I usually go there with my parents on weekends. Especially my Mother loved the atmosphere and cleanliness of the mall. We always had a good time there.
There were number of good shops, fun place for kids and a fantastic food court. Honestly, the main thing which attracted me to this place is the food court. I am not that shopaholic neither my parents but this place was good for a decent outing plan. We always thought of window shopping but once we are there, my Mother always buy few things for my sister in law to be. My brother’s wedding was planned once we get back to Pakistan in 2011 so, my mother never miss a chance to buy things for her.
I remember that we never return from this mall empty handed. We used to walk around the shops and floors, up and down and once we are tired, we walk to the food court.
Food court has a nice view of river Nile and it was so relaxing to have the food while watching out from the window. My Mother always liked the falafel there which were so delicious and tasty. The food there never disappointed us, it was always fresh and well prepared. However, some of my friends have negative feedback but we never faced those issues in any of the food item. You can see the happiness and how much fun we used to have at this mall through the pictures which I took in 2010.
The sad news was this mall got badly damaged at the time of revolution in 2011 and was set on fire. Later on, it was renovated and rebuild to reopen in 2013 or 2014 as per Google updates.
My pictures are from our last visit to Arkadia Mall, hope that it gets better and better to attract more people and provide a better experience to locals and tourists.
