Hello friends, I introduce myself to this beautiful community. My name is Roseri, I am 34 years old, one of my favorite hobbies is traveling as well as preparing delicious desserts. Luckily I am here excited to share some places that I have visited, beautiful countries, corners full of stories. Traveling beautifies our days.
I had the pleasure of visiting the city of Caesarea Maritima (city founded by Herod I the Great in the 1st century BC)
At the foot of a Mediterranean Sea that runs along the shores of Israel, between the towns of Haifa and TelAviv, are the ruins of Caesarea, the city founded by Herod I the Great in the 1st century BC. It is a beautiful place full of incredible stories and landscapes.
This place did not have much importance until Herod the Great made it a splendid port suitable for his kingdom. The port was built with materials that allowed the concrete to harden underwater.
Herod decided to turn a small fishing town into a small and great empire. You can still see the theater that he built with a capacity for 3,500 people, although little evidence remains, our guide told us that in the center of the "Palacio Promontorio", there was a pool that was almost Olympic-sized and was filled with fresh water.
He also built an aqueduct.
The lack of fresh water in Herod's new city necessitated having a long aqueduct to bring water from the springs at the base of Mount Carmel, almost 17 km from there. To make the water flow attracted by gravity, the aqueduct was built in arches.
It will take a bit of imagination to see it in its former glory, however even in its ruined state, it is amazing to see the walls and arches still existing and intact to this day.
This place, it is great, I fell in love with its facilities, its aroma, its history and its breeze, it is adapted to carry out any type of group activities, due to its extensive facilities.
It is even ideal for marriages overlooking the sea, its location allows you to see a beautiful sunset that inspires you to say “yes”. Hehe
There are several stalls serving drinks and food, as well as large seating areas with tables. This is probably one of the most modernized places, despite this, some archaic pieces of history are found beyond the edge of the garden area.
All the photos were taken by me ...
Thank you for joining me here, in this great experience I had when visiting the beautiful city of Caesarea Marítima, I hope you had fun.
