To meet his devotees across religions and caste - travel is very much necessary.
Today is the world famous Ratha Yatra or Car Festival or Chariot Festival, the oldest and largest Hindu festival on which millions of devotees throng to Puri, to meet his beloved Lord Jagannath , as he steps out of his temple to meet devotees across caste and religion. After taking bathe with 108 pots of ritually purified water on Deva Snana Purnima, the Lords fall sick and given treatment in a closed sick room, during which devotees cannot meet him. And then after recovery, he along with brother and sister, travel to his aunt's house, to meet his devotes in open where everyone can seek his blessings.
Our rituals are so much connected to our life and lifestyle - travel refreshes everyone and the Lord travels once in a year, to rejuvenate, giving his devotees a chance at the same time. This is why, we should consider traveling at least once in a year. Life is all about living and we should take time out from our busy schedule and rejuvenate ourselves.
We have a Jagannath temple nearby and the Chariot festival is getting popular attracting more crowd every year. It certainly gives a strong message to the society - spiritual healing and mental peace is only attainable by connecting the dots with the divine, we can only do our Karma with honesty and all good intentions without hurting anyone - leaving the rest to the almighty. Many foreigners have started believing in our rituals and culture - recently Steve Job's wife came to India during the Maha Kumbh Mela to fulfill his last wish. Science and Technology can't explain many things that has answers in our rituals.
It was good to see many youngsters coming and attaining the festival.
