Today I am going to write about a stunning city with unique history, amazing arhitecture and with a big soul.It Is a city called Mostar,a city that has an unusual symbol. It is about the famous bridge on the Neretva, the Old Town, which was built five centuries ago and which was demolished at the end of the twentieth century, and rebuilt a few years later. Apart from the impressive history, the bridge is also known for the famous event, during which brave participants jump into the Neretva from a height of 27 meters.
Mostar, a magical city in Herzegovina, on the way to the Adriatic Sea, with its almost Mediterranean climate and Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian architecture, has been a real magnet for tourists, travel writers and occasional travelers for hundreds of years.
The well-known Old Bridge, a stone bridge over the Neretva River, is an architectural marvel of its Ottoman period and an economic and strategic object connecting Dubrovnik with the rest of the Balkans.
Mostar is a city of sunshine, painters, writers and widely known pranksters, who in local jargon are called water hens or cunning person.. These are those funny people from the neighborhood, who make jokes about their fellow citizens, but often make jokes at their own expense. These anecdotes then circulate for decades through stories in the taverns of the old part of Mostar.
The sub-Mediterranean climate has brought wild pomegranate, which grows freely all over Mostar, as the eternal inspiration of the colony of painters in this city on the banks of the green river Neretva, the only major tributary of the Adriatic Sea, on this side of the continent.
Famous poets from Mostar, such as Aleksa Šantić, Osman Đikić, Pero Zubac and many others, together with painters and poetic foxes, form the essence, the soul of this city. Here is a photo of a street named after famous post Aleksa Šantić.
