Hail to the Hive!
We are finally out of our 10 day self isolation quarantine after flying back into the country. We needed to stretch our legs and get off the narrowboat.
We decided to take a stroll down the tow path of the Trent & Mersey Canal to see where we would be taking the boat on its maiden voyage (maiden voyage with us in charge that is). It was a little chilly but nothing awful and it felt fresh and so nice to be outdoors surrounded by nature.
I love the mile markers on the canals. A great way to figure out how far you’ve gone and therefore how far you will have to go to get back.
So peaceful and pretty. We really are very happy to be back in the UK. We never thought we would be back but now we are, it feels good.
This lock will be the first we ever have to do when we pass this way on the boat in a day or so.
Cute little cottage for whoever is lucky enough to live here, watching the canal boats navigate the lock all day.
On we walk, not a soul in sight.
Another mile marker. Progress progress.
This boat made us smile. Really cool artwork which I am sure has made many a passer by smile.
And now this mile marker is at our destination of Fradley Junction. This is where the Trent & Mersey Canal and the Coventry Canal meet.
The Pub though is unfortunately closed which is a great shame as I am gagging for a pint.
So time to head back to the boat. So nice to get out though and also to get an idea of what we will have to negotiate in the boat soon. We can hardly wait! 😃
