Hail to the Hive!
This was our second time passing through Royal Leamington Spa and we kind of weren't ready to go as we were starting to like the place and had met some new friends ( soon to be on hive ) but needed to rendezvous with an old friend down the line and also the toilet was in need of emptying and we needed a facility to do so. Yup Living the Dream!
We didn't set off until the afternoon and by that time the thin layer of cloud had dissipated revealing glorious blue sky and surprisingly warm sunshine.
COULD THIS FINALLY BE SUMMER?
When we passed this way a few weeks ago headed in, it did not look so lovely. it was nice, don't get me wrong, but today it was superb. This brick built viaduct looks absolutely superb against the blue sky surrounded by greenery.
I am getting better and steering and taking photographs at the same time. Far fewer almost crashing moments. Even at 3mph it is possible to do some damage, and you look an idiot also.
Amazing engineering these bridges.
Once more out into the stunning English countryside. Warwickshire really is a stunning county and I already know we will be plying this stretch of the canal again in the not too distant future as it's been so nice to cruise through and the towns of Warwick and Leamington Spa are extremely pleasant. Let's not forget Stratford upon Avon either!
Is it any wonder and I have fallen in love with this lifestyle.
Decided not to go to far the 1st day and i fancied a beer in the sunshine and this looks like a good spot.
What do you think? Could you handle a night here?
Badger looks pleased as well so I think we have Badgers seal of approval, here it is for tonight.
Time to wind down and soak up the last rays of light for the day.
Another Glorious Day!
The next moring we awoke to such a nice day we decided we would stay put and do some chores and enjoy the weather.
With a view like this first thing in the morning you can hardly blame us.
Even laundry looks picturesque in this idyllic setting.
But in the afternoon we did decide to malke a move and do a few locks to make the following day much less bothersome.
These locks can take to narrowboats at a time side by side and we had some company going up the flight.
This made it much easier, more pleasant and quicker also.
As we were making quicker progress through the flight we decided to push on a bit and even though we didn't set off until 3pm we made great progress through the locks.
And what stunning weather!
Is it me or does almost every view look like it should be on a postcard?
The suns starting to go down but we fancied squeezing the last few locks in.
Last one for today!
And here we shall rest and watch the sunset while supping a beer. BBQ and a visit from an old friend awaits us tomorrow.
Leaving a place can sometimes be sad but a couple of days along the canal like this makes it all worthwhile.
