Edralin Falls is one of the most special place we never fail to visit whenever we go back to my hometown. It is located in Edralin, Antutot, Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya. I grew up here and it’s also where I first learned how to swim. Since we were kids, this has always been our favorite swimming spot. We used to jump from the top of a big rocks into the water below, pretending to be professional swimmers. Every weekend, especially when there were no classes, we would spend hours playing and swimming here, specially noon when the weather is hot.
I’m truly thankful because, despite how often we swam there, none of us ever got hurt. Now that we’re grown up and have our own family, we only visit occasionally, and we don’t swim as often. The water is cold that can really refreshes you the moment you jump in. The current can be quite strong, so you need to use life vest and be a good swimmer to enjoy it.
There are more falls higher up, but they’re not open to the public because the area is small, deep, and a bit dangerous. The rocks are steep and slippery, so climbing isn’t recommended. But there are some visitors going up with the permission of the lifeguard and the management. I remember when we are kids we tend to climb up and swim all those falls. But this time when we visit and have enough time, we sometimes hike up just to take pictures. But if we’re in a hurry, we just take photos at the lower part on the swimming area before heading home.
The water is clean, surrounded by lush trees and fresh air that makes it perfect for picnics, swimming, and relaxing. It’s truly a peaceful and refreshing place to unwind. The trail going there is a bit steep and rocky, but this time they built a bridge for all visitors for easy and safe climb. The falls are also quite deep, so wearing a life vest is advisable, especially for beginners and kids.
