Hello dear friends,
I hope you are all well and getting ready to spend a wonderful weekend. In this message, I want to share with joy my latest discovery that I made during my trip around Italy in the past few days.
In fact, after visiting relatives and friends in Sardinia, I went to Piedmont to visit a dear friend from university, and she took me to see this beautiful castle, of which I was not aware of its existence. But as we know, Italy is full of many such places, so it's normal not to know about all of them.
Today, I want to introduce you to the Mandria Castle, this beautiful summer residence of the Savoy family is located just outside the city of Turin, a few kilometers away.
Piedmont, of course, has been influenced by the Savoy family for years, and this castle was built by this important and influential family back in the 16th century. As usual, at the bottom of the page, you will find all the necessary information to further explore the history of this castle.
The castle is spread over two floors, and there are also underground areas that are currently undergoing restoration and are not accessible. I entered inside and took some photos to share with you here.
The castle has been open to the public for many years, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and there is an entrance fee of 10 euros, which I think is a fair price for such an attraction. The visit, with my usual slowness, lasted about an hour, but once outside in the park, you can take a stroll and stay as long as you want. There are beautiful trees and plants to admire.
The feeling I want to convey to you is that it is a very beautiful and fascinating place, well-maintained. The rooms, as you have seen from the photos, are nicely furnished. Unfortunately, much of the material comes from other Savoy residences because part of the interior furnishings had been stripped over time.
In any case, inside this castle, you can not only learn but also delve into the history of the Savoy family. Through interesting narrations and detailed documents, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself completely in the past and understand the role of this noble family. Fascinating stories about their deeds, political alliances, as well as the artworks and cultural heritage they left behind are available.
It is always fascinating to become aware of the living conditions of the past, understanding how they coped with the absence of things that are essential to us today. Despite their limitations, they managed to lead a meaningful life. This realization might suggest that we, perhaps, have become too accustomed to modern comforts.
I didn't take photos in the park because it is in poor condition and truly needs proper restoration. The closure period due to Covid probably had a significant impact.
I was extremely satisfied with this exploratory adventure and the discovery I made. It is always a wonderful experience to visit these places, especially considering my great passion that drives me to observe every detail of this historic place with obsessive attention. Every corner and point of interest has been carefully scrutinized, savoring every fragment of history hidden within these ancient walls.
I want to express my gratitude for taking the time to read. I hope that my story has sparked interest and has not bored you at all. I sincerely hope that you have the opportunity to visit this place because I believe it is well worth the ticket price! The experience it offers is absolutely unforgettable and enriching.
See you soon and have a great day!!
