Hello dear friends of this community!
How are you all??
I’m doing well. I haven’t been able to share new photos and stories lately, but I’m still alive, although I keep getting sick and running a fever because of this heat. However, I’m feeling much better these days, but next week I think I’ll pay a visit to my trusted doctor. I believe it’s the intense heat hitting Italy these days.
Today, I want to tell you about a village I had the fortune to explore last week. I was supposed to share the photos I took in this beautiful place located in the province of Pistoia called Spedaletto!!
I really like these mountain villages. In fact, this one is situated at an altitude of about 700 meters above sea level. As the name suggests, it was probably a place where travelers passing through were hosted. As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by the church with its beautiful bell tower, all dating back to before the year 1000! It seems that the famous Via Francigena passed through here, used by pilgrims to reach the city of Rome, and a hospice was created here to host them, but I don’t think there are any remaining testimonies of this historical site.
Naturally, being the curious person I am, I went inside the church, which fortunately was open. I must say, it is in very good condition inside and quite simple, with nothing that particularly caught my attention.
From the village, I noticed that beautiful hiking trails start, probably through nature, but I limited myself to exploring the village, which was what interested me. I have to say, there were quite a few people around the village. Many people have vacation homes here, and I also noticed a lovely fountain with a washhouse that was once used for washing clothes.
As you can see, the village isn’t very large and is moderately well-kept, but I enjoyed seeing it, even though none of the people I met spoke to me, which seemed strange for people from Tuscany. I continued my walk to the lake, "Lo Specchio." It seems more like a lake created for fishing enthusiasts, although they had placed a heart where you could take romantic photos.
In conclusion, I can say that this was also a pleasant discovery, even if it’s not very large and doesn’t have many things to see. But as I always say, it depends on how you look at things; you can find something interesting in any place!!
Thank you for taking the time to look at my post! I hope you liked the photos!! See you soon, guys!!
