Walking in Caloto Colombia

Going through my old photos I came across some pictures from about 8 years ago and I felt such a pleasant sensation that made me want to go back to that place.

Cauca Caloto is the town where my dad was born and grew up until he was a teenager, he and my uncles feel nostalgic every time they mention it, visiting Caloto is a must when we travel to Cali Colombia and in the last trip, I also fell in love with this colonial town.

Caminando por Caloto Colombia

Revisando mis fotos antiguas me encontré con unas fotos de hace unos 8 años y sentí una sensación tan placentera que me hizo querer volver a ese lugar.

Caloto Cauca es el pueblo donde nació mi papá y creció hasta su adolescencia, él y mis tíos sienten nostalgia cada vez que lo mencionan, visitar a Caloto es un paseo obligatorio cuando viajamos a Cali Colombia y en el último viaje también quedé enamorada de ese pueblo colonial.

This town is located in the department of Cauca, its streets are cobblestone and have paths to walk surrounded by large saman trees, it is a beautiful town that preserves the structure of the colonial era and customs of the area.

Its inhabitants are quiet people and mostly peasants, have their cultural festivities framed in the religious being the Catholic religion of greater prominence. Every year they celebrate the Day of the Child Mary, which is the image of the Virgin Mary but in her infant form, everyone has great faith in her and attributes healing miracles to her.

Este pueblo está localizado en el departamento de Cauca, sus calles son empedradas y posee caminos para pasear rodeados de grandes samanes, es un pueblo hermoso que conserva la estructura de la época colonial y las costumbres de la zona.

Sus habitantes son personas tranquilas y en su mayoría campesinos, tienen sus festividades culturales enmarcadas en lo religioso siendo la religión católica de mayor prominencia. Cada año festejan el Día de la niña María, que es la imagen de la Virgen María pero en su forma infantil, todos le tienen gran fe y le atribuyen milagros de curación.

My dad is a faithful devotee of the Child Mary and keeps a framed picture of her in the main room of his house. The celebrations of the Niña María are a great success, however, what caught my attention the most about this Colombian town was its nature, its leafy trees of hypnotizing beauty.

It also has an icy river for the enjoyment of the entire population, I could not stop tasting that water and pose like a top model. I would like to go back and take my dad, he is almost 70 years old but when he comes to Caloto he looks like a child of 7.

Mi papá es un devoto fiel de la niña María conservando una foto enmarcada en la habitación principal de su casa. Las fiestas de la Niña María son a todo dar, sin embargo lo que más me llamó la atención de este pueblo colombiano fue su naturaleza, sus árboles frondosos y de hipnotizante belleza.

También posee un río helado para el disfrute de toda la población, yo no podía dejar de probar esa agua y posar como toda una top model. Quisiera volver y llevar a mi papá, él tiene casi 70 años pero cuando llega a Caloto parece un niño de 7.
