Paragliding an unforgettable experience - Parapentismo una experiencia inolvidable
One of the most exciting experiences I've had in my life has been paragliding, since I was a child I love heights, air, and birds, if I were a bird I would like to be an Eagle to fly through the skies and travel incalculable distances.
One day I wanted it with so much strength that I accepted the invitation of a stranger to fulfill that dream "To fly in paragliding" I wanted to have that experience so badly that the opportunity presented itself to me and I took advantage of it, days before I was writing with a young man, friend of a friend, he wanted to meet me and as we talked about things we would like to do he invited me to fulfill that desire.
Una de las experiencias más emocionantes que he tenido en mi vida ha sido volar en parapente, desde pequeña me gustan las alturas, el aire y las aves, si fuera un ave me gustaría ser un Águila para volar por los cielos y recorrer distancias incalculables.
Un día lo desee con tantas fuerzas que acepte la invitación de un desconocido a cumplir ese sueño “Volar en parapente” tenia tantas ganar de tener esa experiencia que se me presento la oportunidad y la aproveche, días antes me estaba escribiendo con un joven, amigo de un amigo, él quería conocerme y como hablamos de cosas que nos gustaría hacer me hizo la invitación para cumplir ese deseo.
Without hesitation, I said yes. We planned a different day, we met very early in the morning at a central point, he traveled two hours to meet me and from there we continued for another hour climbing a mountain to get to the place where we could paraglide. After the experience, we were going to have lunch together and in the afternoon he would take me home, the idea was to spend the day sharing and getting to know each other.
The first thing we planned went as planned, we were both on time and started the trip to Colonia Tovar in the state of Aragua Venezuela, in that place paragliding is practiced, we arrived very quickly in his brand new late model car from the agency.
My partner was not sure if he wanted to fly, I was determined to do it, I had money saved to pay for my adventure, it was a beautiful sunny and windy day, in the place there were many people between workers, spectators and people interested in flying. The attention was very fast and after reading the advice, warnings, and commitments that I had to assume, I signed the contract and canceled, they quickly registered me and put me in line with one of the assigned pilots.
Sin titubear le dije que sí. Planificamos un día diferente, nos encontramos muy temprano en un punto céntrico, él recorrió dos horas para encontrarse conmigo y de allí seguimos otra hora subiendo una montaña para llegar al lugar donde podíamos volar en parapente. Luego de la experiencia íbamos almorzar juntos y en la tarde me llevaría a casa, la idea era pasar el día compartiendo y conociéndonos.
Lo primero que planificamos se dio tal cual, los dos fuimos puntuales e iniciamos el viaje a la Colonia Tovar en el Estado Aragua Venezuela, en ese lugar se practica el deporte de parapente, llegamos muy rápido en su auto de ultimo modelo nuevo de agencia.
Mi compañero no estaba seguro de querer volar, yo estaba decidida hacerlo, tenía dinero ahorrado para pagar por mi aventura, era un día hermoso soleado y de mucho viento, en el lugar había muchas personas entre trabajadores, espectadores e interesados por volar. La atención fue muy rápida y después de leer los consejos, advertencias y compromisos que debía asumir firme el contrato y cancele, rápidamente me registraron colocándome en cola con uno de los pilotos asignados.
I remember that among the clauses of the contract was:
- To be of legal age or in the case of being under 18 years old to present proof of parental authorization.
- In case of an accident, exonerate the company from responsibility for medical and funeral expenses, among others.
After reading and signing the clauses I was a little scared, but I went ahead with my dream and I was introduced to the pilot with whom I was going to fly, I was instructed to run fast and raise my legs when indicated, so I did and I was ready to fly.
The most striking thing about that time in the sky is the absolute silence that shakes your body, a silence that I have never heard again hehehe, how small things look from above and how fast you can go up and down, how free you feel to fly, even if you don't have wings, how risky it is to put your life in the hands of others, the adrenaline and the joy of achieving your dreams.
Recuerdo que entre las cláusulas de contrato estaba:
- Ser mayor de edad o en el caso de ser menor de 18 años presentar una constancia de autorización de los padres.
- En caso de algún accidente exonerar de responsabilidad a la empresa de gastos médicos, funerarios entre otros.
Después de leer y firmar las clausulas me dio un poco de miedo, pero seguí adelante con mi sueño y me presentaron al piloto con el que iba a volar, me dieron las instrucciones de correr rápido y subir las piernas cuando lo indicaran, así lo hice y a volar.
Lo más que llamó mi atención de ese tiempo en el cielo esta: el silencio absoluto que estremece tu cuerpo, un silencio que no lo he vuelto a escuchar hehehe, lo pequeño que se ven las cosas desde arriba y lo rápido que se puede subir y también bajar, lo libre que se siente volar, aunque no se tengan alas, lo arriesgado que es poner tu vida en manos de otros, la adrenalina y la alegría de lograr los sueños.
I lived this experience years ago, in the pictures, you can see how old fashioned I am and my naive way of standing up, but I remember very well almost all that day, while we were going up I observed how the earth moved away from my feet, but that is precisely what you should not do, my pilot recommended me to look up to the horizon to avoid getting dizzy, but it was too late when he told me, I already felt like vomiting.
I had had a very light breakfast, just coffee and bread in small quantities, before flying I had already passed my digestion, but as soon as I looked up to the horizon I began to vomit and vomit. The paragliding pilots are equipped with everything they carry cameras and if people pay for a full service they can record the experience, I regret not having paid for that, it would have been a very funny video, besides the camera to record they also carry bags like those of the airlines for vomit.
Esta experiencia la viví hace años, en las fotos se puede observar lo pasada de moda que estoy y mi forma ingenua hasta de pararme, pero recuerdo muy bien casi todo ese día, mientras subíamos observe como se aleja la tierra de mis pies, pero eso es precisamente lo que no se debe hacer, mi piloto me recomendó subir la mirada al horizonte para evitar marearme, pero ya era muy tarde cuando me dijo, ya tenía ganas de vomitar.
Yo había desayunado algo muy ligero solo café con pan y en pequeña cantidad, antes de volar ya había pasado mi digestión, pero en lo que alcé la mirada al horizonte comencé a vomitar y vomitar. Los pilotos de parapente están equipados con todo llevan cámaras y si las personas pagan por un servicio completo pueden grabar la experiencia, lamento no haber pagado por eso, fuera sido un video muy cómico, además de la cámara para grabar también llevan bolsas como las de las líneas aéreas para los vómitos.
The flights are scheduled for 15 minutes, but that day the winds were strong and my pilot could not land prolonging the experience for 45 minutes, woo how lucky I was I paid for 15 minutes in the air and I received 45 minutes, the strangest thing is that this time flew by, I felt that everything was so fast, I lived it as if it had been 5 minutes on earth.
During those 45 minutes I vomited incessantly, I finished with all the vomit bags and when we landed down the mountain I could see the collection of bags with stomach liquid scattered everywhere, my pilot was nervous about my state of health and exhausted from so much "tirar guaya" expression that he used.
Los vuelos están programados para 15 minutos, pero ese día los vientos eran fuertes y mi piloto no podía aterrizar prolongándose la experiencia por 45 minutos, wuaoo que suerte tuve pague por 15 minutos en el aire y recibí 45 minutos, lo mas extraño es que este tiempo se me paso literalmente volando sentí que todo fue tan rápido, lo viví como su hubiesen sido 5 minutos en la tierra.
Durante esos 45 minutos vomite sin cesar, acabe con todas las bolsas para vómitos y cuando aterrizamos montaña abajo pude ver la colección de bolsas con liquido estomacal regadas por todas partes, mi piloto estaba nervioso por mi estado de salud y agotado de tanto “tirar guaya” expresión que el mismo utilizo.
After the experience I met the person who took me to that place, it was time for lunch, but it was impossible to do it, I threw up all the way, I threw up the car and although he wanted to take me to a hospital I asked him to leave me at home. I arrived with very low blood pressure and full of adrenaline still ecstatic about the adventure, I kept vomiting until I vomited bile, which is the green and bitter liquid secreted by the gallbladder, I had nothing left in my stomach and I could not even tolerate water.
I was totally dehydrated and my father carried me to the hospital where they hydrated me and injected me to stop the vomiting, stabilizing my blood pressure. It was an extraordinary day in spite of the health details and if I had the chance to live it again I wouldn't change a thing.
Terminada la experiencia me encontré con la persona que me llevo a ese lugar, ya era la hora de almorzar, pero fue imposible hacerlo, vomite por todo el camino, le vomite el auto y aunque el quiso llevarme a un hospital le pedí me dejara en casa. Llegué con la tensión muy baja y llena de adrenalina todavía extasiada por la aventura, seguí vomitando hasta vomitar la bilis que es el liquido verde y amargo que segrega la vesícula biliar ya no tenia nada en el estomago y no toleraba ni el agua.
Me descompense totalmente, deshidratándome mi padre me saco cargada hacia el hospital donde me hidrataron e inyectaron para parar los vómitos, estabilizando mi tensión. Fue un día extraordinario a pesar de los detalles de salud y si tuviera la oportunidad de volver a vivirlo no le cambiaria nada.

Placivel is a spectacular flying site located on the road from La Victoria before reaching Colonia Tovar, in an impressive valley surrounded by mountains.
You arrive with the car, and you may already see the paragliders flying. Sobre este tour para volar en parapente
Placivel es un espectacular sitio de vuelo ubicado en la carretera que va de la Victoria antes de llegar a la Colonia Tovar, en un impresionante valle rodeado de montañas.
Llegas con el carro, y posiblemente ya ves a los parapentes volando. Una vez que formalices tu inscripción y hagas acto de presencia te presentaran a tu piloto para ponerte el arnés de vuelo, te da unas cortas indicaciones para que sepas cómo es el proceso de despegue, y estás listo para despegar.

In this flight you will take advantage of the view of the mountains that are formed, thanks to the wind and the warming of the sun, sometimes you can fly next to the vultures and other paragliders that are on the site.

En este vuelo aprovecharás la vista de las montañas que se forman, gracias al viento y al calentamiento del sol, a veces se puede volar al lado de los zamuros y los demás parapentes que están en el sitio.
La fuerza del viento los eleva y puedes ver en el mejor de los casos la Colonia Tovar hacia el norte, y hacia el sur los Morros de San Juan, las lagunas de Taiguaiguai, Zuata y el gran Lago de Valencia. Es posible que le pases a otro parapente volándole a pocos metros y saludas.
Who can fly?
Anyone who can walk without problems, and is in good health and without heart complications, and weighs no more than 95kg. You can fly from 6-year-old children (with parental permission) to 75-year-old people. What you need is motivation and the desire to fly.
Who will I fly with?
You will fly with experienced pilots, who have been flying for years, and all of them have a license issued by the Venezuelan Federation of Icarus and Paragliders - FEDEVIP. Each pilot has an emergency parachute.
¿Quién puede volar?
Cualquier persona que pueda caminar sin problemas, y esté bien de salud y sin complicaciones cardíacas y no pese más de 95kg. Puede volar desde niños de 6 años (con autorización de sus padres) hasta personas de 75 años de edad. Lo que necesitas es motivación y ganas de volar.
¿Con quién voy a volar?
Vas a volar con pilotos experimentados, que tienen años volando, y todos avalados con una licencia emitida por la Federación Venezolana de Ícaros y Parapentes –FEDEVIP. Cada piloto tiene paracaídas de emergencia.

What to wear?
Comfortable clothes to have freedom of movement, preferably closed shoes, and comfortable for a little run. It is important to bring a sweater or coat, even though it is not too cold it is very windy and the thermal sensation is of low temperatures, that is to say, you feel cold.
Should I bring a camera for the flight?
If you want you can, but the pilot is equipped with a video camera to take pictures and record the experience, so you don't need to bring it, the best thing is to have your hands free to play with the wind and feel the flight.

Recomendaciones
¿Qué ropa llevar?
Ropa cómoda para tener libertad de movimiento, zapatos cerrados preferiblemente y cómodos para dar una carrerita. Es importante prever un suéter o abrigo, si bien no hace tanto frío hay mucho viento y la sensación térmica es de temperaturas bajas, es decir sientes frio.
¿Debo llevar cámara para el vuelo?
Si quieres puedes hacerlo, pero el piloto está equipado como cámara de video para tomar fotos y grabar la experiencia, así que no es necesario que la lleves, lo mejor es tener las manos sueltas y libres para jugar con el viento y sentir el vuelo.
