Many a times it happens that you were made to write own stories after visiting a historical site. There were many fascinating things you will notice that would certainly make you to comes up with own perception. Ruins of Nalanda is one such place which made me to bug up a lot about past things and activities happened at that place.
Now after looking at the picture, if you were wondering if I am outside any pyramid than you were completely wrong. This is one of the biggest stupaa at Nalanda Riins which were discovered by the Archaelogical Team of India.
A place which has many stories, to tell but how the actual.life was, no one knows. We can only make our own stories from what we see from the past things.
Nalanda, is famous all over the world for the the ancient International Monastic University established in 5th century BC, which taught Vedas, Logic, Grammar, Medicine, Meta-Physics, Prose Composition and Rhetoric.
This site is considered to be worlds very first residential university. As per the Archelogial department, this site used to be the ancient university and Buddhist monastic centre. It was spread in very large area with entrance gives us a glimpse of the boundary wall of the compound.
When I made towards the building entrance, it gives us a good ancient structure. Everything was build up of Clay bricks. And that too quite heavy in weight. The bricks was quite width in size too.
Inside was a completelly different stories. It has a big compound with many small units of stupas at everywhere.
If we go by historians the place was destroyed many a times. Last times it was put on fire by Bhaktiyar Khilji and many manuscripts and ancient vehicles literature books were destroyed. History says that at that times , the fire remain at that place for over 6 months 10 days. Which destroyed the many original Buddhist and Hindu literature.
Excavation worked at this place was carried out by the Archaelogical Team during 1915-1937 and later on 1974-1982. It exposed many finding of the place. The discoveries says, ot has extensive 6 Brick temples and 11 monasteries arranged in a Systematic layout structure.
Infact I notice it was the first drainage system built, outside every little rooms. Those rooms were like of students. The place is quite calm and peaceful even now. I was wondering how it would have been during that time when the structure was built. 6th Century BC was too old to consider the existence of such great structure.
The noteworthy thing is that this place has always been considered as knowledge hub. Many Buddhust visited this place to enhance their knowledge and acquire important learnings from other subjects. This also proved to be curse for this place as it becomes the reason for its destruction by Bakhtiyar Khilji.
There were many untold stories of this place. The most prominent one that completelly ruined this place is thr atrocities by the then ruller Bakhtiyar Khilji. As per the stories he was suffered from some illness and when noone able to diagnosed him, a Buddhist monk treated him in a very unique manner. When he noticed that his community people were inefficient in front of these monks he get angry and destroyed the place
History of this place goes back to the days of Mahavira and Buddha of 6th Century BC. It was the birth place of Sariputra, one of the famous disciple of Buddha. Now only left with the Ruins and anondoned. It took many years to unearth this place and now this place is under the World Unesco Heritage site.
It is good to explore the historical site the through self created stories. I am leaving you all with pictures from every corner of the compound. It was great to visit the place once to discover some ancient stories. Hope 6ou enjoy the little picture tour of Nalanda Knowlwdhe Hub. Rest to study more of the place Google help you out of this historical site.
There were many things to tell, but it happens that picture speak much louder than words. And I hope these picture certainly fill up my loss of words. I was completelly amazed to be at that place and discover the life style of 6th Century ancient civilization.
