Willunga is located 47km south of Adelaide city . It is an old town centre surrounded by sloppy hills and conservation parks. Australia is home to to the tribal clan speaking Kaurna languge, and Willangga in the language translates to locality of green trees.
The town-centre was a mini shopping area, with old shops that would take you to time in history. A beautiful place , and as it's name trees and naturet vibes around the town. We reached there after 5 pm, and usually shops close before 5 pm in South Australia. This town has served the hospitaliy for centuries, and mostly are still in operation in some ways. The walk in the town centre for sometime felt like you tanscended to the old times.
We circled around the suburb for quite some time, the homes had come alive with the flowers and nature. The small walking pavement close to homes, and the roses scattered around the homes felt a garden on it's own.
After a short walk to town centre, the nearest beach Port Aldinga was the next destination. The cloud had surrounded the sun, and it was a good drive but a chilling time coming out in the beach. A good walk around the sand, and some good views of the sea ws something to soak in for the time being. The birds were enjoying the sea breeze, I couldn't bear the cold and the breeze, so decided to go to a lookout point with expectatation of great view considering the weather.
When it's good drizzle, and sun hide and seek that brings the possibiities of a great sunset view or rainbows in between the sloppy hills. So, the drive took me to the Willunga Hill Summit ( John Yeates Memorial Park). The park is given the name as a tribute for John Yeates 49 years of public service in South Australia.
I was awestruck when the rainbow appeared, it felt like something conspired to have my words turned to reality. That was one of the best rainbow up-close I have ever seen with the rain. My wife couldn't hold still, so I got her photographs taken with the rainbow. It felt beautiful. The sun was rolled in the cloud on the other side withe green sloppy pains and drizzles scattered on the plains to the farmlands, and the other side in the dark cloud was the rainbow popping out denser and beautiful.
As time passed by, the sun came in for the set, the dusk hours was turned golden in clouds, and it drizzled rain in the green plain farmlands; making a dreamy view from up the hills. The greenery, sunrays, and the landscapes decorated the entire plains putting an exquisite nature show.
It was a day with nature, a best weather and time to be around in Willunga. This place is still in top of my bucketlist but keeping it to the late October of next year .
Thank you for coming to read my travel diaries, I hope you enjoyed the view and stories.
