Starfish Hill Windmill is the first windmill of South Australia and serves around 18000 households since 2003 with the capacity of 33MW. I come from Nepal, well known for hydro projects, but I never had the chance to see a wind turbine up this close. So, it was a one special time for me.
The road leading to the windmill is purely exquisite, and during the month of November, you can have the best greenery view with hills and landscapes filled with wheat fields. It's entre hill looked with the wind range of Turbines, looking like it's lined up in queue.
The windmill main space was closed for the general public but you can drive to the gate which will provide you close up look to the windmill.
Your way to Starfish Hill Windmill can happen from Cape Jervis but has the gravel road, with uphill and downhill in between these sloppy hills. The view from distance looks pleasing, and as you come near it get's more majestic and some kind of fear infused me, it was not scary but some kind of fear associated with it's spinning blades or the electric lineups that could be around. The way reaching to the destination of Starfish Hill Windmill is silent, and undisturbed, so probably you might be only around the area, which might have also added one bit of fear.
But, I had good times despite the mind chaos, I had fun with the view. It was a good time to create some photographic memories being around the windmill. The rain had come in, and the breeze with fog was there, sun was playing hide and seek, and you were in the travel. It was one of the best weather time you could get when you reached the destination. The grasses where just in shape and waving with the wind, while you could take a look in the windmill.
a special trip that would go down the memory lane for long time ......
