About thirty years ago, almost no one knew about this courtyard - except the locals, of course. The mosaic studio didn't attract much attention. The artist Vladimir Lubenko worked here. He also taught classes for children living nearby. The walls of the houses were similar to the courtyard facades of any other houses in the central part of the city. The transformation was just beginning.
The studio of artist Vladimir Lubenko was located in the back of the courtyard. This house did not stand out in any way - and the artist thought it was wrong. The school of art, opening the creative path for all who came to these walls, should be special. An atmosphere of beauty had to greet all who came.
It was this idea that became the inspiration for the transformation of the entire courtyard space. The mosaics began to fill the space gradually, starting with small areas near the entrance to the studio. The mosaics were made of marble and porcelain, ceramic tiles and smalt.
Fifteen years ago, this unhurried transformation became visible and began to attract tourists. At first, the address of the unusual courtyard was passed from person to person, and there were few visitors. But with the development of social networks, the addresses of such "secret attractions" began to be published more and more often on the Internet, and this place became more and more popular.
Local residents were not very pleased with the increased popularity of mosaics at first, and even made attempts to close access to the yard. But over time they got used to it - it can't be helped, if you live in a museum and admire beautiful art every day, you have to accept the fact that there are others who want to look at mosaic paintings and sculptures!
Mosaic is a leisurely art, it takes time, care, and neatness. If you come to the courtyard often, it may seem that it does not change. But if you come here occasionally, each new visit is not only a meeting with familiar paintings, but also an opportunity to look at new works: a new mosaic sun on the stone of the curb, or a swan above the window, or a mosaic sculpture in a shady corner.
