After a couple weeks of freezing cold weather, we finally got a warmer day! And I took full advantage of it at Chedoke falls in the west end of Hamilton Ont.
Starting at the base of Chedoke creek, I was surprised at how much ice there was! Not only along the water, but a thin sheet covering everything. Then freezing rain started making the ice that much worse.
Slowly I made my way to Lower Chedoke falls. A 20 foot tall Curtain Cascade Waterfall , that has had an uprooted tree sitting in the middle of it for years.
After climbing above that waterfall, the trek to the other waterfalls was quite tricky. Erosion and ice made what was a trail, non existent. So I was unable to take many shots along the way.
Just before Upper Chedoke falls, is this cascade that is fed by a tunnel.
Reaching upper Chedoke falls has become difficult, but always worth it! The 60 foot tall, Ribbon Waterfall. Is always beautiful. Even on a day full of freezing rain that by this point turned into a light snow.
