Sometimes traveling a long distance can be fun, and sometimes demanding due to road stress and some other environmental factor. Most especially now that we are currently in the rainy season. Rain these days tends to disturb a lot of activities that people do every day, and most especially those that go to work. Yesterday was supposed to be my community development service, and I have to travel as far as the venue where the CDs will take place. But before leaving my place, it was already raining, and the only thing I could do was just to go to the park, board a bus, and travel down to Ibadan to do what I am supposed to do.
So, yesterday's CDS took place at Liberty Stadium at Mainbowl Obafemi olowo Stadium, New Gra, Ibadan 200273, Oyo, Nigeria. I had to travel down to the stadium even if I do not know the exact place, but I have to be there because yesterday was the sports week for all the CDs in the Southwest. I got to the venue around some minutes past 10 in the morning, and when I got to the stadium, it was a big one, and I was not expecting it to be that big. A lot of arrangements had been made for the whole activity, and lots of sports had been assigned to take place for the enjoyment of everyone that will be present.
The program started at exactly 11 am, and the new local government inspector anchored the start of the event by leading the corps members to sing the youth corps anthem. After that, the event started with the football competition between the charity cds and Servicom. At the end of the battle between the two teams, Servicom won by 1 goal to nil, and they stand at the third position. While for the final, which was between the agro-allied cds and ICT, ICT began, and fortunately enough, the ICT team won with a penalty of 5-4.
After the competition of ball, then the other competitions took place, which were the relay race, egg race, sack race, and 100-meter race. All these competitions happened between the males and the females, and this made it an interesting event to watch. A lot of medals were given as prizes to reward the contestants for the job well done. If they had not volunteered to do any of the activities, the event would have ended up being boring because just one person can't entertain a lot of people in every aspect.
After the awards were given, the event ended, and lots of refreshments came up, and the refreshments differed by each cds group and their ability. But trust me, it was an eventful one that took about 6 hours of my time, but in the end, when I thought about it, I was happy I went for the program. Sport is always fun to do, and it was an amazing thing for me to eventually go into a real, live stadium for the very first time.
