Sometimes it's good to always go back home after you have left a place if the place is truly worth going back to. It's getting to be about a year now that I graduated from the institution of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. But ever since I have graduated, I have not gotten any valid reason to go back to that citadel of learning because I have left the hostel I was staying at before and am now staying as a bachelor in a small apartment downtown, which is some distance from where I stayed before. But one thing that always happens that brings people back together is when there is an event happening and you are invited.
Eyo Masquerade
Last year when I was graduating, our set started a ceremony for the finalists that is titled the Ojude Funaab 2026, and what this means is that a ceremony for royal highness is done by people living in a vicinity, and now this is being done by the students, and this is as a result of the FYB week that the finalists observe every time they are graduating, and at the end of the FYB week, they do the Ojude Funaab as the last-day event, which will bring lots of people together, including the alumni body and other respected members.
Start of the program
Yesterday was another Ojude Funnab, and I was also invited to anchor some event in the program, and I went there with some music band to celebrate the occasion with them. The occasion took place at the FUNAAB Sport Complex that is located at the Ceremonial Rd, Adzho 110122, ogun State, Nigeria. The event was a very special one because a very reputable king in the land came to celebrate with the finalists. Each college portrayed different styles of culture and tribe by dressing according to their attire, and this made each college special.
Different programs took place as there was enough time for the program. The program started exactly at 11 am, and it went on until 6 pm before everyone departed to their various destinations. One thing that interested me about this program was the fact that the executives of this current finalist went as far as bringing in some special royalties, like the Owu of Owu land, the Aragbiji of Aragbiji land from Osun State, and different dignitaries. Well, most of us were not expecting it because the last year was not much, and now this current set is setting a new standard for the next set, and I believe they will also do more next year.
Another thing I was happy about was the fact that I saw a horse for the very first time. Well, I might have seen it in movies or in pictures, but it felt real as I saw people riding on it, and I was able to move close to it. Seeing things virtually is always different from seeing them physically because the feeling is different. Lots of food vendors were also on hand to grace the occasion, like Sans Buker, Delightsome, and many others. After all the party and merriment, I was happy I went because my time was not wasted and it was worth the while. Looking forward to the Ojude Funab 2027, as it is going to be so loud.
