Hello Everyone! After several weeks of on and off activities in the chain, I’m finally back on posting!
I’ve been so occupied with the latest events happening in my life now and from the past endeavors I have attained and completed during the pandemic and the post-pandemic work or the new normal life where it gave me better fulfillment feeling. But there are some instances that I struggled a lot, pressured and pounded to the ground and that’s why I always set some time for some sort of stress equalizer and recreation. So for this, I’m so delighted to share to you guys my short adventure to the south of Cebu.
This is not my first travel post but this would be my first pinmapple-pinned post publish in this community. Please bear with me as I walk you through my travel experience. xD
ON QUEST!
Three weeks ago, a week after we successfully delivered our project to one of our clients, I decided to pay a visit to the south of Cebu, particularly in Mantalongon, Dalaguete. It is a 3-hour travel time using a bus but in my case, it took me more than an hour using my motorcycle. And another couple of minutes tracking elevated roads just to get to the perfect spot of enjoying personal time.
I saw some goats on the ridges along the roads of high level area and it’s quite fascinating to see how free these animals are in this rural place.
The first stop of my trip was in Flower Garden of Mantalongon which is unfortunately close at that time. But that did not stop me from taking pictures in the place. Though it’s very limited, I begged to get near the place to have a closer look of their plants and florals.
Actually, the very main purpose of my travel was to get to the sunflower farm of the flower garden because someone told me she loves sunflowers so much. But then again, I was not notified that the garden is currently close thus led me to look for alternative ways I can take some sunflower photos or grab some.
Luckily I was able to find some wild sunflowers along the road and quickly took some photos of them and bought them home. But before I took these sunflowers, I asked some locals nearby whether it’s allowed or not to pick some wild ones and they said it’s okay.
This part made my solo travel experience more exciting, from planned to unplanned one. Because as I’m taking back the track going home, I saw some motorcycles carrying loads of vegetable coming from the farthest farm area of the place or should I say areas where plateaus area situated for vegetable farming. Curiosity hit me, so what I did next was to get into those places to see some veggies fresh from harvest.
Dalaguete is known from its agricultural contribution for the whole province of Cebu most especially in vegetable farming. It is somewhat considered as the vegetable capital of the region.
It past 9 AM already when I started going uphill and the cool breeze of the air still gave me amazing chills I could not feel in metro Cebu or Lapu-Lapu.
It's stunning to feel the cold air of Mantalongon penetrates into your bones because it complements to the warm feeling you get as your eyes savor the beauty of Dalaguete's nature and heights.
I went nearby to some children in the spot where I watch closely the farm below the hills. I also saw some locals in the far side and they're most likely coming from a hike. One of the children offered a tour service but I declined, telling him that it would be best if I have some friends with me.
In return for their honest engagements and innocent smiles, I bought some of their siopao on sale. xD
I took more pictures in the place and some random snaps of locals walking and commuting thru motorcycles. I could certainly imagine how peaceful this place is throughout the day and night and how simple the lives of the people living in this elevated pasture land.
Going downhill, I saw a couple enjoying their time in the place. I got jealous but the only thing I can do is to take some photos of the two discretely. Not until they notice me and strike a pose as a sweet couple. I even got more jealous. lol
Last stop was at the mid part of area where I took more photos of the peaks of Mantalongon mountains and hills with more fogs on it. I was a bit in hurry state because I'm afraid I might get caught by the looming rain.
Here are the photos:
Overall, the experience was nice. A sudden turn of a little adventure from a simple quest of looking for sunflowers. The next time that I get the chance of visiting Dalaguete once again, I will definitely be at the famous Osmena Peak and explore more heights and thrills.
