If the place where you live is 1600 meters above sea level and the city is surrounded by mountains, winter conditions are very difficult. I live in one of the most underdeveloped cities in Turkey in many respects.
The name of the city I live in is Bitlis. It is said to be a city of about 7,000 years. There are historical houses, mosques, madrasas and various structures in many parts of the city. I wanted to share some of these historical buildings with you. The historical houses under the snow look visually impressive.
Historical houses were built on hard rocks such as basalt. It has a preventive effect in natural disasters such as earthquakes.
Some of the historical houses are also visible on the left. Dideban mountain is visible on the horizon. The family home of the most famous Armenian-American writer William Saroyan is at the foot of the Dideban Mountain.
The name of the mosque in the picture is Sultaniye Mosque. It was restored a few years ago.
A stream runs through the city. But unfortunately, the creek is quite dirty and smells bad because people throw away their garbage.
