Hello hivers of the world, good vibes to all. Join me today to visit one of the largest parks in the city of Caracas, Venezuela. It is the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Park or better known as Parque del Este, located on Francisco de Mirada Avenue, Los Palos Grandes.
Are you ready for the adventure, I recommend sports shoes, hat, comfortable clothes, water and snacks, we are going to walk a lot. The estimated travel time, without entering all the tourist sites of the place, is approximately 5 hours, although it is best to take it easy and spend the whole day in its facilities. By the way, if you do not want to bring food, no problem, the park offers plenty of cafes and restaurants at reasonable prices.
The park offers two large parking lots, one next to the main pedestrian entrance, at the north end of the park, on Francisco de Miranda Avenue and the other at the south-west end of the park. If you don't have a car, no problem, the Miranda subway station, better known as the metro system, is next to the main entrance.
The first thing you will find when you enter is a large open space and the acoustic shell. In this space they offer countless activities, for example when I entered they were doing sound tests, after 10 in the morning there was dance therapy and in the afternoon, when I was on my way out there was a concert.
In this same area there is a restaurant, with open spaces where there are food display stations, toys and other traditional attractions. Once you pass this place you will find some walkways. You choose where to start.
To make the tour I went east, and the first thing I visited was the xerophytic garden. It is very nice, it is on a mini hill and surrounded by many rocks. Ideal to sit and meditate or read a book. Just past this garden I came across the parking area and the soccer, basketball and tennis courts. It is gratifying to see so many people training and walking around the place.
There is a mini cafe and restrooms here. Throughout the park we are going to find these points, which ensures that we do not have to travel large spaces to find a place to cool off, rest and in case of emergency.
In my view appeared a large space of trees. There is little grass in the place, which contrasts with my childhood memories, because the first thing that comes to my mind is the greenery of the grass and me lying on that soft bed of vegetation. I continued on my way so as not to get caught up in my memories.
The park now has an extension and for that I had to cross the pedestrian bridge over the Francisco Fajardo highway. There is a spectacular view of the Warairarepano mountain or better known as El Avila. This place formerly belonged to the air base La Carlota, so we can see in the place an old airplane and a communications tower building.
The beauty of this place is a small artificial lake where the mountain is reflected. There are some fields and I had the opportunity to see some kids playing baseball. A playground and some restaurants complete the scene.
On the way back, crossing the bridge over the highway and the west side of the park the first thing that catches my eye is the boating lake. It is an artificial lake and the attraction is that visitors can take a 15 minute boat ride for a small fee of $3 dollars. Next to this lake is a café with a large space and a magnificent view of the lake and the Lander ship.
By the way, the Lander is a replica of the ship in which Francisco de Miranda brought our iconic national flag to Venezuela. The entrance fee is very, very cheap, only 5 bolivars, in dollars I could say it is less than half of a quarter of a dollar. I did not have the opportunity to visit the ship. The entrance queue was beastly.
Very close to the Lander ship is the zoo. When I was a child I remember that in its spaces there was a tiger, otters, a large anaconda snake, monkeys, turtles and crocodiles. Now I only saw the turtles, two crocodiles and a river otter. Although things have changed, I think it is better that there are no animals in captivity, but the defenders of endangered animals could say otherwise.
A little further north is the Terrarium, where there is an exhibit of snakes and other reptiles. It is a circular building with cages embedded in its walls. The entrance fee is only two dollars and it is quite a show for children.
Further on we find the space dedicated to the birds. These are large cages with block walls and metal bars, arranged in a semicircle where I could see a variety of birds. From my humble point of view I do not agree with seeing animals in prison, so I quickly passed by this place.
I tell you that among the attractions of the park is the Humboldt Planetarium, a place where, from noon and every half hour there is a talk about a planet, star, sun, galaxy, nebula, etc.. The entrance fee is two dollars and it is worth visiting this place that immediately transports you to the era of the 50s, the decade of its construction.
Following the route and already looking for the exit of the park there is a large fountain in the form of a screen. Unfortunately it was not active at the time of my visit. There are also artistic and colorful decorations on the walls. It is a very nice place for groups that gather there on weekends.
Undoubtedly this park offers many alternatives for the family, to spend a day of healthy recreation and enjoyment in the middle of nature without leaving the city.

Hola hivers del mundo, buenas vibras para todos. Acompáñame hoy a visitar uno de los parques más grandes que tiene la ciudad de Caracas, Venezuela. Se trata del parque Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda o mejor conocido como Parque del Este, ubicado en la Avenida Francisco de Mirada, urbanización Los Palos Grandes.
¿Estás preparado para la aventura?, te recomiendo zapatos deportivos, gorra, ropa cómoda, agua y aperitivos, vamos a caminar mucho. El tiempo estimado de recorrido, sin ingresar a todos los sitios turísticos del lugar, es de aproximadamente 5 horas, aunque lo mejor es ir con calma y pasar todo el día en sus instalaciones. Por cierto si no quieres llevar comida, no hay problema, el parque ofrece infinidad de cafés y restaurantes a precios módicos.
El parque ofrece dos grandes estacionamientos, uno junto a la entrada principal de peatones, en el extremo norte del parque, sobre la avenida Francisco de Miranda y el otro en el extremo sur-oeste del parque. Si no tienes carro, no hay problema, la estación Miranda del subterráneo, mejor conocido como sistema metro, está junto en la entrada principal.
Lo primero que te vas a encontrar al entrar es un gran espacio abierto y la concha acústica. En este espacio ofrecen innumerables actividades por ejemplo cuando ingresé estaban haciendo pruebas de sonido, después de las 10 de la mañana hubo bailoterapia y en la tarde, cuando iba de salida había un concierto.
En esta misma área hay un restaurant, con espacios abiertos donde existen estaciones de exhibición de comida, juguetes y otros atractivos tradicionales. Una vez pasas este lugar te vas a encontrar con unas camineras. Tú eliges por donde comenzar.
Para hacer el recorrido tomé hacia el este, y lo primero que visité fue el jardín xerófilo. Es muy lindo, está en una mini colina y rodeado de muchas rocas. Ideal para sentarse a meditar o leer un libro. Justo al pasar este jardín me encontré con el área de estacionamiento y las canchas de futbolito, basketball y tenis. Es gratificante ver tantas personas entrenando y caminando por el lugar.
En este lugar se encuentra un mini café y los baños. En todo el recorrido del parque nos vamos a encontrar con estos puntos, lo que garantiza que no debemos recorrer grandes espacios para encontrar un lugar donde refrescarnos, descansar y en caso de emergencia.
A mi vista apareció un gran espacio de árboles. Poca grama hay en el lugar, lo que contrasta con mis recuerdos de infancia, pues lo primero que viene a mi mente es el verdor de la grama y yo acostada sobre esa mullida cama de vegetación. Seguí mi camino a fin de no engancharme a mis recuerdos.
El parque ahora tiene una extensión y para ello debí cruzar el puente peatonal sobre la autopista Francisco Fajardo. Allí se tiene una vista espectacular de la montaña Warairarepano o mejor conocida como El Ávila. Este lugar antiguamente perteneció a la base aérea La Carlota, así que podemos ver en el lugar un avión antiguo y un edificio torre de comunicaciones.
La belleza de este lugar es un pequeño lago artificial donde se refleja la montaña. Hay algunas canchas y tuve la oportunidad de ver a unos niños jugando béisbol. Un parque infantil y algunos restaurantes completan la escena.
De regreso, cruzando el puente sobre la autopista y la lado oeste del parque lo primero que captan mis ojos es el lago de botes. Es un lago artificial y el atractivo es que los visitantes por una módica suma de $ 3 dólares pueden pasear a bordo de un bote por espacio de 15 minutos. Junto a este lago se encuentra un café con un gran espacio y un magnifica vista del lago y del buque Lander.
Por cierto el buque Lander es una réplica del buque en el que Francisco de Miranda trajó a Venezuela nuestra icónica bandera nacional. La entrada es muy pero muy económica tan solo 5 bolívares, en dólares podría decir que es menos de la mitad de un cuarto de dólar. No tuve la oportunidad de visitar el buque. La cola de entrada era bestial.
Muy cerca del buque Lander se encuentra el zoológico. Cuando era niña recuerdo que en sus espacios había un tigre, nutrias, una gran culebra anaconda, monos, tortugas y cocodrilos. Ahora solo vi las tortugas, dos cocodrilos y una nutria de rio. Si bien las cosas han cambiado, creo que es mejor que no hayan animales en cautiverio, pero otra cosa podrían decir los defensores de animales en peligro de extinción.
Un poco más hacia el norte se encuentra el Terrario, lugar en el que hay una exhibición de Culebras y otros reptiles. Se trata de una edificación circular con jaulas incrustadas en sus paredes. La entrada es solo de dos dólares y es todo un espectáculo para los niños.
Más adelante nos encontramos con el espacio dedicado a las aves. Se trata de grandes jaulas con paredes de bloque y rejas metálicas, dispuestas en forma de semicírculo donde pude apreciar una variedad de aves. Desde mi humilde punto de vista no estoy de acuerdo con ver animales presos, así que pase rápidamente por este lugar.
Les cuento que entre los atractivos del parque se encuentra el Planetario Humboldt, lugar en el que, a partir del mediodía y cada media hora hay una charla sobre un planeta, estrella, sol, galaxia, nebulosa, etc. La entrada es de dos dólares y vale la pena visitar este lugar que te transporta de inmediato a la época de los años 50s, década de su construcción.
Siguiendo la ruta y ya buscando la salida del parque se encuentra una gran fuente en forma de pantalla. Lamentablemente no estaba activa al momento de mi visita. También se aprecian decoraciones artísticas y de colores en las paredes. Es un lugar muy agradable para grupos que se reúnen allí los fines de semana.
Sin duda este parque ofrece muchas alternativas a la familia, para pasar un día de sano esparcimiento y disfrute en medio de la naturaleza sin salir de la ciudad.
