I have been living in Jomtien City for the past 3 years now enjoying many beautiful sunsets but have never been up early enough to see a sunrise well this morning, I was going to see my first sunrise since living in Jomtien City and why, I was finally going to see my first sunrise in Jomtien city, was for two reasons to see what the local Thai people would be doing early in the mornings and mainly, I wanted visit the local Thai fish market on Jomtien beach and had to be there early to see all the action, I set my alarm clock for 5am had a coffee and then made my journey out, it was going to be about a hour walk to the local Thai Fishery Market on Jomtien beach and the sunrise was already looking good looks like we're heading into another beautiful day for Jomtien City.
Making my way along Jomtien Beach Road, I could already see locals out and about some doing there morning walks on the beach, others jogging and stretching, kids out selling there little snacks for a bit of pocket money some still napping and the early morning Monk walking along Jomtien Beach Road giving his blessing to the local Thai people for a positive and healthy start to the day.
I was happy to be up early and walking along Jomtien Beach Road, the vibes were feeling good seeing so many Thai people out and about, they say a early start to the day gives you more reasons to be alive and I was happy to see a slice of local daily life happening here, Jomtien beach is not only a area for tourists and holidaymakers, there is life here that goes on daily, normal for the local Thai people whether they are feeding the Pigeons, selling the best orange juice on the stripe or bringing in that night catch it's all happening here for the locals and even the local dogs are up playing around on the beach.
For us tourists walking along Jomtien Beach, we just assume that we are on holidays every day and tend to forget that this is home to normal Thai people and they have to, go about their daily life to earn money for themselves and there families and these hard working fishermen are no exceptions they are out there every afternoon of the week preparing there boats and nets ready to go out to sea another night facing danger with changes of weather in there little boats.
When they sail out from Jomtien beach every evening they will be out at sea all night to early next morning before they come in with there catch and then it's the task of un-netting there catches from the nets without damaging there nets, it's the crabs that prove the most difficult to untangle from there nets with there spiny legs they need to be real careful not to do damage to there nets and these could take a few minutes on each crab before it's put in the water basins ready for sale.
I was amazed to see the variety of fishes they had caught out there, I have never had much interest in fishing myself but I do know the names of the most common fishes out there but these ones, I was seeing here, I would not have a clue what type of fishes these are but must say they do all look pretty juicy.
Some of these fish didn't even look eatable to me some actually looked frightening but the Thai's they know what to do with each and every individual one of these fishes and will present them to you cooked having you going back for seconds.
Even though I love fish give me the Prawns, Lobsters, Balmain Bugs, Blue Crabs which, I understand are Hive account@dswigle favorite seafood and I will destroy them in one mouth full.
When these boats hit the shoreline in the early mornings after there night catch the fish and seafood are sorted out into three categories first the best of seafood gets sold to the local restaurants then others get bagged up for the local seafood markets and finally the rest is put on sale for the local Thai people and foreigners, if you want it clean up and cooked in from of you for a nice lunch dinner by the beach that can be done for you also, now you wouldn't get it any fresher then that and washed down with a nice coffee, refreshing ice tea or fresh fruit juices.
When most of the deeds are done for the day, by these hard working Thai people they will take time out for some noddles and have a breather, another hard days work all in the order of survival to keep themselves and there families looked after. Amazing people and always ready to serve you with a smile.
