Krabi Province in Thailand you can say is a area that is saturated with beautiful white powdery sand beaches around most of all them tall limestone rocks you see protruding out of Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand you will see many hidden paradise beaches but these can all get to much, after been in Krabi for two weeks and having seen a few beaches I was up for a different challenge.
It is said that there is are around about 150 little islands around the Krabi Province alone that's a lot of beaches I was amazed that this Tail-Boat owner knew just about every island some with beaches others with no beaches, well I suppose he has been doing these tours for years, my main intentions of talking to him was to find out if there were any beautiful fresh water lakes we could do some kayaking around.
He reply was yes there is from the town of Krabi going towards Ao Nang about 15 km from Ao Nang town there is a most gorgeous clear crystal fresh water lake called the Khlong Nam Sai Lake where you can do kayaking and swimming the hiring charge for a kayak he said would cost you 300 baht per/person ($10 US) with a life vest, this sounded like just what I wanted to do a day kayaking on a cool lake.
He had said to me if I was interested in going the following day he would have his friend the mini-van driver pick me up from my hotel at a cost of 100 baht ($3 US) I said yes book me in, I love kayaking around lakes at a peaceful pace enjoying and observing all the natural beauty.
The next morning the driver was at my doorstep right on time and we were heading to Khlong Nam Sai Lake, about a 40 minute drive from my hotel as always driving anywhere in Thailand, it always seems like the first time excitement in the bones with all the beautiful nature around the Krabi Province has a lot of that no matter were you drive it's always feels like your in the country tall limestone rocks and tall green trees everywhere you look very refreshing sceneries.
Upon arriving at Khlong Nam Sai Lake there is a nice coffee shop and of course it was coffee and a good breakfast before trying to kayak around this huge lake the guides were saying it would take you at a steady pace about 3 hours to get around this entire lake at times maneuvering yourself through tight spots like been in a jungle.
After a nice energizing breakfast I was ready to explore every inch of this lake hook me up with a kayak dude, I am out of here apparently this whole area used to be a rubber tree plantation and now it's a flooded rubber tree plantation where you can see still the old stumps of these rubber trees protruding out of the lake because of all it's healthy resources in this lake the water is so crystal clean that it is in fact good enough to drink.
This lake has so much natural beauty it's truly an experience from seeing another beach there are so many species of plants I had never seen before including wild orchids and lotuses, there are small rocks and bigger rocks protruding out of the lake all natural like small mountains covered in plants and flowers growing of them was so beautiful to see this unspoiled nature.
Snorkeling and swimming is allowed in these cool clear crystal fresh water lake but more on the up stream canal there you will see the most amazing species of colorful fresh water fishes and If you enjoy ATV riding though the tropical rain forest for extra 500 baht ($15 US) this can be available to you after you finish your 3 hour kayaking around the lake. This was a amazing experience and a relaxing one doing my own thing in nature something I would come back and do again.
