Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you all, I hope you all got off to a great start I am at present still on vacation from work so I have been taking the opportunities taking day trips around the group of islands around the Phang Nga Bay and Krabi Provinces in the southern part of Thailand, in my previous posts I mention I had already been to Koh Lao Lading Island, Koh Hong Island and a couple smaller island, last week before coming back to celebrate New Year in Pattaya, I decided to check out Phi Phi Island, Koh Yao Yai Island and Koh Yao Noi.
On this particular day I had booked a Mini Van to pick me up from the hotel I was staying at (Cost of Mini Van $3 US) and from the hotel it was about a 30 minute drive to the Bang Rong Pier, from the pier you can choose three means of transport across to Koh Yao Yai Island, there is the normal ferry taking you 1 hour to get there costing you $1.50 US, The Tailboat taking 30 minutes at a cost of $10 US or Speedboat taking 20 minutes costing you $15 US dollars. I decided on the Speedboat this time. The views driving to the Bang Rong Pier were just refreshing being a overcast day I didn't mind at all.
A little bit of drizzling rain just made the morning even more beautiful looking across the lush green bays of Phang Nga Bay, we were all set and ready to fly across the Andaman Sea in this 4 engine speedboat and land on Koh Yao Yai Island on approaching the island the weather was staring to clear up and I could see the long stretch of white sand separating Koh Yao Yai island and Koh Yao Noi, it looked like something out of them advertising campaign like the Carribean Islands.
What I am really loving about traveling around Thailand at the moment is I am not missing the tourist at all everything is so peaceful, quiet and you can see all the beauty of nature, it has had time to recover never have I seen such blue crystal waters and white sandy beaches so clean even the Crabs were enjoying there peaceful holes but beware Crabs when there are Thai people around you are not safe you will end up in there Som Tum soup.
Koh Yao Noi has around about 6,000 residents with the east coast having all the beautiful beaches and the west side having all the rice farms where you can see the real living culture of the Thai people it's sister island Koh Yao Yai is only 10 minutes boat ride away from Koh Yao Noi. Koh Yao Yai is a much quieter island not as big and only a few residents great island for trekking or cycling.
Koh Yao Noi is certainly the ideal island to visit as it has a few resorts from 3 star to 5 star and it's a lovely little clean town, if you intended to stay for a romantic weekend and your not far from other little beautiful islands all no more then 10 minutes away by boat, spend a few hours there like your own private island.
From Koh Yao Yai you are also close to the other famous island like Phi Phi Island which was made famous by James Bond when the film "The Man With the Golden Gun" was filmed on this island. Phi Phi Island is also know for it's beautiful white sandy beaches great for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking.
Phi Phi Island was in it's days before the pandemic a real party island today it's slowly coming back together but Phi Phi is not all about full moon parties, it has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes, marine life, limestone rocks to climb, enjoy the most amazing colorful coral reefs and the vibrant sea life this alone will leave you in awe. This is a island I could easily retire on it has everything you need and your only 45 minute boat ride to Phuket mainland.
In the past 2 weeks of traveling these islands of Karbi, I have never seen so much natural beauty and like I said earlier in this post, it is definitely the most perfect time to be touring Thailand, not only because it's a lot cheaper at the moment, no crowds, it's the best time to be seeing the real pristine postcard Thailand.
