HUE- a city in Central Viet Nam, with a poetic and peaceful landscape, was used to be the ancient capital of the country in the past. Hue is the home of the long history, the unique ancient architectures, beautiful natural scenes, charming people and delicious dishes. It's absolutely a must-visit place when in Viet Nam.
I visited this place a couple of times. Throwback my trip in 2019, my friend and I stopped over here a day to explore around before we boarded on the train heading to Ninh Binh. It took us 3-4 hours from Da Nang to Hue by bus. Then we rent a motorbike to drive around. We actually had some places in mind where to visit but was a bit struggled to find the exact location following the google map.
Abandoned Thuy Tien Park was the first destination we decided to see. I was immediately captivated by its mysterious and strange beauty. It was an incomplete eco-tourism project in 2008 and was abandoned since then. I was told that the shape of a dragon in the middle of the lake is very scary and looks like in a horror movie. Perhaps, people sometimes overmake up their story and what they witness, I think ๐. To be honest, for me, it's something strange and very impressive. ๐
It was extremely worth a long drive from the centre of the city. We headed back to the centre for lunch and visited some pagodas.
The Temple Tower is considered as the symbol of Hue city- highly recommend visiting
Thien Mu Pagoda (Thien Mu literally mean Heaven Fairy Lady) is a pretty well-known destination in the area and is just 5 kilometres away from the centre. This is the most sacred temple in Hue and attracts many locals and tourists come to pray every day.
There is a discover boat tour that you can explore along the river and listen to the local song
After walking around the temple, I found a place to sit down and enjoy the wind and the view from Huong River. We did not have much time left to take the sunset boat tour along the river. That was a short visit in the summer of 2019 and it was crowded and hot on that day.
My another visit to The Imperial City early this year.
As mentioned in one of my last posts about this place. The Imperial City was the place that the Nguyen Dynasty was located for 140 years from 1805 to 1945, and the proof for a long history of the country.
This is not only a popular place but also a mark of cultural history and pride of the people of the local. Highly not to miss it. In Aฤition, the place is also recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage and is one of the relics of the Hue Monuments Complex.
Entrance fee: 150.000 VND/ Person ~ 7 USD
When first few steps entering here, I was completely attracted by the magnificence of the palace and its bold architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty.
I didn't intend to visit The Imperial City but I realised that it's really fantastic to learn the culture, the work with sophisticated and unique design and the way of life of the ancient Vietnamese Kings. Not only the traditional oriental architectures but also architectural works design in the western style can be found here ๐
When I heard about the place that the King lived, I was thinking of splendid and golden palaces or majestic mausoleums. However, this place is really closed to nature. It has a spacious garden and many big trees along the walking path. ๐
Hue is the place that still retains these unique architectural works, traditional festivals, cultural traditions and special features until nowadays. That's a reason why amongst the famous tourist destination in the Central region, Hue has its own unique characters and ancient beauty that are nowhere to be found. I'm sure tourists will find something special and interesting about this place.
I wish I could tell you more about the history of the previous Kings of the country. You can check out here to learn more about the place.
