This is my second post in the Pinmapple community. First of all, I would like to greet all my friends here with sincere and sincere feelings. I hope everyone is well. Now I will tell you about an ancient city in Antalya, Turkey, which is famous for its past history, natural beauties and deep blue sea. The name of this place is known as Phaselis Ancient City.
In order to come to the Ancient City of Phaselis, you must travel from Antalya city center to Kemer district of Antalya. After passing the Kemer district, you will see the Camyuva sign. After the Camyuva sign, the Phaselis Tunnel comes to you. After passing the tunnel, when you turn left from the Phaselis Ancient City Sign, you will reach the city at the end of approximately 1 km. The distance to Antalya city center is approximately 65 km. For those coming from Antalya Airport, the road distance takes approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes.
You pay 70 TL for the entrance fee to the ancient city of Phaselis. For those who have a museum card, this fee is 60 TL. There is absolutely no demand for any fee from the families of the disabled and martyrs. I can say that this city is one of the most beautiful and magnificent historical ancient cities in Turkey. Here, you can enjoy the deep blue water by swimming in the sea, and you can go back to the past and take a look at the hidden quotes of history.
What makes the ancient city of Phaselis so special and attractive is that it was built around 3 harbor beaches. This place has been the meeting point of the ancient city and the sea. This city attracts the attention of all local and foreign tourists with its coastlines and beaches where you can swim comfortably, the ruins of the historical Roman period and finally the magnificent natural beauties. Let me briefly tell you the features of the three ports.
North Harbor
It is the first port you encounter when you enter the city. The seaside of this place is covered with large rock stones. Although it is not a preferred section, it stands out with its natural beauties. You can walk for hours on the dirt walking paths formed by large and small white stones among the pine trees right next to the seaside. You can walk in the company of the beautiful scent of nature, the clean air and the magnificent view of the tree branches hanging down the road, you can sit in the chair you brought with you and watch the sea in nature.
South Harbor
The beach of this port, which attracts the most attention of visitors and is very crowded in summer, is sandy. The bottom of the sea is also sandy. It has a long beach. It is open in front and does not get much wind. The shallow sea in this port has made families prefer this place. I can say that the wide-bodied pine trees located a little behind the coastline add a different color to the beauty of this place. Visitors can sit in the shade of these large pine trees and spend time with their families. Since there is a small-scale cafe business in the ancient city, it will be very useful to bring all your seafood, food and drinks with you when you come here.
Military Port
Located between the North Port and the South Port, this port is much smaller than the others. The sea is shallow as in the south port. Since it is built on the slope of the mountain, you cannot see many waves in the sea. The bottom of the sea is covered with shining colored sea stones of various sizes. The ruined stones of the breakwater, which overflowed the sea, also share the unique beauty of the port. This is one of my preferred ports. I can say that it's quieter and calmer, and the waves are less, which intrigues me.
Colonnaded Street
I would also like to talk to you about the Colonnaded street, which is the crossing point between the North Port and the South Port. The Colonnaded Street is a long, wide stone and earth mixed road that serves as a bridge between two ports at the end of the aqueducts when you enter the city. While walking on the road, you can visit the historical building blocks of the Small and Large baths, which belong to the Roman period, on the right and left. The double and triple steps on both sides of the road show that this is a trade route. I guess that many merchants and people used to walk on this road, which has a sewer system underneath. Statues of statesmen were probably on display at the top of the steps.
Let's take a time travel to the ancient history of the ancient city of Phaselis. The Romans first lived here. Most of the historical buildings here belong to the Romans. After the Romans, the Byzantines dominated the region. Finally, when Turkish domination began to be seen in Anatolia, the Anatolian Seljuk State added this region to its lands. The people living in the city made their living by maritime trade. The city, which hosts three ports, has an important position on the world maritime trade route.
We see the Romans' interest in art through the works they made in ancient cities. Here, too, an ancient theater was built just above the colonnaded street, close to the sea. The building blocks that have survived until today also have the feature of solid workmanship. The Ancient Theater has a capacity of approximately 5 thousand and has two floors. On the first floor of the theater, there are walls with 5 doors. There are some hollows between these walls. Probably, statues of important statesmen of the period or people they deem valuable were exhibited here.
Phaselis is one of the most beautiful ancient cities of Turkey that you can come and see. Even though it was home to three great civilizations, it enriches the history of the city. With its deep blue and clean sea, historical ruins and unique natural beauty, this city should be number one on your travel list
