Hi Everyone,
Going to Team Lab was one of our goals in Tokyo as we have been to the Osaka one and the Tokyo one we were told was 10x better. After booking our tickets online, we took a cab and arrived at Toyosu. Getting to TeamLab Tokyo was a bit like stepping into a sci-fi movie. We were shown a video in a dark room and taken inside to leave our belongings and shoes in a locker.
The first room to go through was a huge room full of massive beanbags. I mean the room was full of them and you need to go through them to enter the next room. No joke, it was pretty difficult to go through but the kids loved it and pulled me along. Once we got out of there, we were right inside the famous crystal room with lights all over. We cannot touch these lights, just walk through the path with mirrors all around us. The colours of the lights change periodically and it’s really an eye opener. It's a beautiful room, I could sit in there for a very long time
Then we were going through a long corridor and walking through water. No joke, water as high as your knee, and be sure to hold onto the little ones. We saw a kid slip and was fully wet from going right through the full of water. The room was full of water, with fish lights around you, just like you were in a fish tank. Amazing feeling and the best part was the water was warm, no need to worry about the cold. After we came out, each of us was given a towel to wipe our feet which got us ready for the next surprise.
The room was full of coloured balloons. It was a beautiful setting for great pictures. We sat there for so long taking pictures and the kids trying to explore every corner of the room and waiting for the colours to change. It was just like the outdoor one in Osaka but was just indoors. Moving on was a room like you were lying in space. Apologies for the blurry photo but we were really looking up something similar and I was getting really dizzy so we left the room quickly. In fact, it was like I was getting motion sickness …. maybe something to think about before going into that room.
Moving onto the semi outdoor area with the silver balls, I am not an artistic person so not sure what to look for in this room apart from it being super cold outside so we quickly moved onto the final room where I was most anticipated. This room is full of flowers, moving to the song playing in the room. It was magical, just like out of a fairytale, the colours are bright, mirrors everyone and you can just sit and enjoy every movement of the flowers. Unfortunately, this room is timed and can only go in groups so we were only able to stay there for about 2-3 minutes but we had fun.
Small tip, make sure you book your tickets online so you can get a time you can enter the building. Also wear pants that can be rolled up as there are rooms with mirrors everywhere so wearing a skirt/dress means everyone could see your underwear. The staff will give you a pair of shorts to wear but it's best to wear the appropriate clothing. The location of the building is a bit far from Tokyo (in Odaiba area) so best to check your transport to and from the venue.
