Hi Everyone,
This time during our travels, we’ve been walking a lot and along the way, we see many shrines or temples and the kids don’t mind it at all so we tend to go in quickly to have a look. Oe-jinja Shrine is located only 10 minutes walk from our apartment, close to Tennoji. It is a Shinto shrine and we had to walk up an extremely long flight of stairs to get to the top.
The water to clean our hands were not available at that time, maybe due to the extremely cold weather. The mains building was closed off but we were able to make our offerings and make our wishes/prayers. Although the Shrine was very old and doesn’t look like it has been regularly maintained, the main building was very bright and still has nice history look. The two trees on the side was well maintained and even with the cloudy weather, it looked spectacular.
Just to the right, there is a person there looking after the shop with fortune slips, and any information you may need for using the shrine. One the right, there were small shrines for offerings.
We have noticed this in many shrines or temples that the flags are donations by the public or companies. We can see the name on each and each temple/shrine has a different type of flag. The money that comes from these donations are to maintain the grounds, possibly pay for some wages of the people working there and so on.
It was a nice shrine to pass by that day, a great way to start our day.
