Bratislava, the charm of Slovakia's capital in December 2022
Hello everyone
Sitting and thinking about a topic for a future post I thought of the winter holidays last year, so in today's post I want to go together through the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava to see how the local life looks like on the eve of the holidays.
As we live in western Romania it is sometimes easier for us to travel by car when we decide to visit places in neighbouring countries.
This is how we did it and in this case we left with our personal car for a city break of a few days, the final destination being the Czech capital, but on our way there we decided to deviate from the route and see how Bratislava presents itself on the eve of the winter holidays.
With time on our hands we were very curious to see how the holidays were after so many years of pandemic, to see if life had returned to normal.
I have to tell you right now that I visited several Christmas fairs in Europe last year and I was amazed by the huge difference between how these fairs looked before the pandemic and how they look now after the pandemic, I really couldn't believe it, the only one that was extremely crowded was the one in Vienna, also because of the huge flow of tourists coming from Romania and other countries, at the border between Romania and Hungary we spent a few hours to cross and at the Christmas fair in Vienna we could hear people speaking Romanian all the time.
On entering Slovakia we stopped at the first petrol station and paid a 10 euro toll, after which we continued our journey to the capital.
Secondly we had to look for a parking place for the car, in our search for a parking place we passed under the famous UFO restaurant (MOST SNP), we have been to Bratislava a few years ago and visited some places in Bratislava, in fact with our friends we have a tradition of visiting Christmas fairs in Europe.
After leaving the car in the parking lot we took the cobbled streets of the old city centre, here we could see the chic restaurants, Bratislava is a beautiful city in any season.
This time we chose to visit the Christmas fair in Hlavné square, arriving there during the day we didn't meet too many visitors of the fair so we could visit it quietly.
We took a few laps around the square and first of all we stopped at a kiosk to get something to eat, of course we chose some local dishes, namely Cigánska pečienka, the dishes were very diverse (I'll leave some pictures, I hope you're not hungry?).
In the square we could also find a children's carousel, from small to big you could not get bored here, we passed by a lot of beautifully arranged houses that seemed to attract you there to buy at least something.
I met a lot of local producers including hand made products, what I really liked were those sellers of jars full of pickled mushrooms.
Let's look at other random images.
I can say that here I met extraordinary people, friendly, hospitable, and of course the aroma of celebration brought us into a fairytale world, I apologize for posting so late a post about the Christmas fair but this is what I felt now and I thought to share with you the experience I had in the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone in Bratislava, and the text is also designed by me.
