Grădina Zmeilor(Garden of Kites), the realm between myth and reality in Sălaj County, Romania
Hello everyone
Today we're going to walk through enchanted lands of love stories and unforeseen situations, yes, come with me to the Garden of Kites.
Where is the location of this place?
To reach the Garden of Kites we have to go to the village of Gâlgău Almașului near Jibou.
It is very easy to get to this site because it is close to the national road, the total area of this site is about 3 hectares which is in a hilly area surrounded by dense forests of fir, spruce, and other tree species.
The Garden of Kites is located in an area protected by Romanian legislation and after I managed to explore the whole area I can say that it is unique, I have never seen such formations elsewhere, if somehow you know where there is such an area please tell me, maybe I will visit those too.
The place has become an important tourist attraction in this area because of its location (everything is surrounded by forests, in summer it is a real pleasure to walk here even if it is very hot outside), because of the legends and the silence you find here.
If somehow you are in the area of Salaj County I recommend you to put on the map this place is really worth visiting, by the way, you can come with your personal car here you will find a generous parking space that is free, free is also the entrance here.
Let's dive into the unknown.
After we parked the car we started walking towards the entrance, I saw that somewhere near the parking lot there was a stall selling Langoși, my god it smelled so good there that I was hungry instantly, clearly on the way back we will stop to taste some traditional dishes.
The entrance to the Garden of Kites is a normal one except that the gate is made of some wooden bars, I was so curious to see if in reality this place looks the same, this is a criterion that I take into account at each objective I visit.
We continue our journey along a stone-paved path, stop every now and then to take some more pictures and go deeper into the forest to look for stone giants because the Garden of Kites is a place where we find stone megaliths in different forms.
This place can be visited in any season, but be careful when climbing the cliffs to follow the directions written on the information boards, this is for your safety, we were here a few weeks ago when it was around 28 degrees outside (in the city we felt this temperature but inside the forest everything changes into a pleasant environment only good for exploring).
It is very important to know that the place can be visited on two routes, one of the routes is through the top, that is you will see these stone megaliths from above, and the second route is through the bottom where you will pass right at the base of these stone megaliths, we of course did both routes and if asked which route I liked, honestly the answer would be both.
Following the trail through the upper part we reach the "Kites' Foyer", a place to relax and sit and watch everything around you.
On the way I even noticed tourists sitting for a picnic, they came prepared for a few hours of relaxation, yes, you can do that here nobody has any business with you just respect the rules imposed when you are in a protected area (don't make fire in the forest, don't leave rubbish behind, leave everything as you found it).
The trek across the summit took us about an hour and a half (we also walked through the forest), but we managed to see these rock megaliths that seem to be coming out of the forest.
All stone megaliths have a name, the Doroban, the Sphinx, Fata Cătănii, the Captain, and there is even a legend that the daughter of a village family fell in love with a soldier, but the girl's mother didn't approve of their relationship, so she left a curse on the girl, who later turned into a stone megalith.
Today we can only see here the other megaliths, the girl's one, destroyed after a very strong flood in the area more than 50 years ago.
As I said above we followed both the lower trail is much shorter it took us a maximum of half an hour to walk and pose with the stone megaliths.
After more than two hours we go back to that stall in the parking lot to eat a traditional dish, there were several dishes for sale but we opted for ,,langos, with cottage cheese, cheese and garlic sauce, a delicacy.
My dear followers and visitors I hope you enjoyed this place and why not if you ever get to Romania to check this place of history.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone, and the text is also designed by me.
