Here comes the moment when the year 2021, that year in which all sorts of unforeseen things happened, makes way for 2022, in today's post I want to share with you the last trip I made to Straja resort in Hunedoara county, so let's start the year 2022 with the subject of travel.
The idea to go to the snow came from the desire to see snow during the holidays, and as there hasn't been snow in our area for a while we organized a trip to the mountains.
The resort is relatively close to our home, the distance there is 250km, and the time about 3:30h.
The resort is relatively new considering the fact that it was declared a resort in 2002, it is a resort where you can practice winter sports especially skiing and snowboarding, and having the advantage of being at an altitude of 1440m the winter season comes quickly and lasts until late spring.
The resort has a fairly high standard, with 26 km of ski slopes, of which 20 km with artificial snow, 12 ski slopes (of which 5 with night skiing), each equipped with a cable car.
The resort has ski schools, ski equipment rental, many chalets and guesthouses where you can spend a wonderful holiday.
Access to the resort is either by car, on the road that climbs steeply from Lupeni, or by cable car that leaves from the starting point of the old chairlift.
The ascent by cable car is preferable for the majesty of the landscape that reveals itself above the Jiu Valley.
In the resort we are completely safe because there is also a Mountain Gendarmerie detachment and a public mountain rescue service that ensures order and discipline in the resort, as well as protection and first aid in case of accidents.
The cost of an ascent and descent up to the resort by cable car plus the mountain lift fee is 45lei/9euro/person.
But for winter sports enthusiasts it's something amazing that's worth every penny of investment, but it's also amazing for the rest of us who just go to admire the beauty of the place, breathe the fresh mountain air and, why not, take a few sleigh rides.
After a few hours spent on the mountain through the fairytale atmosphere, as if by magic we got hungry.
So we chose to eat at a local restaurant.
We chose to eat some pasta carbonara and the restaurant's best pizza.
And for dessert we chose to eat a tirmisu.
