The gate to the middle of the earth, Turda Salt Mine, Cluj county, Romania, part. I
Spread the light, and the darkness will dissipate by itself. Erasmus
Hello travellers,
How are you doing today?
The traveler is good with the road, so today we will go together to the center of the earth, where the amazing salt mine in *Turda, Cluj *county, Romania awaits us.
Before we decided to visit the salt mine we did some research on the internet about this mine and found a lot of interesting stuff, but what amazed me the most were the pictures we saw, they were amazing.
So we planned to go there in a weekend to visit the salt mine, the distance there is about 280km, which normally should be covered in no more than three hours by car, the road is very good.
Exactly as I wrote above after about three hours we arrived in the parking lot looking for a parking space, we did not worry because the parking lot in the area of the new entrance to the salt mine is very large.
Access can be made via two locations:
- Old entrance - 54 B Salinelor Street, Turda, county of Turda. Cluj
- New entrance - 7 Aleea Durgăului Street, Turda, jud. Cluj
It is very important to know that parking is paid according to how many hours you spend there, when you enter the parking lot you pass by a machine that will issue you a ticket that will show the time of entry into the parking lot and the registration number of the car, and when you decide to leave the car park you look for the machine inside the car park to see how much you have to pay, at the machine you can pay both with cash and card (note that the machine does not give change, so you must have fixed money).
That's it, we got our parking ticket, parked the car and headed for the new entrance to the salt mine, where the ticket office is also located.
There were a couple of dozen people in front of us, but we didn't wait long because there were several cash desks open.
Filled with a lot of enthusiasm I was very curious if mine is exactly as I imagined it.
Salt mines schedule and fee:

We start descending through a beautifully lit tunnel with some rather small stairs, but we were already experiencing something sensational there underground, salt walls start to appear as if they had snow on them, I even started to touch them and taste to see if it really is salt.
Turda Salt Mine is divided into Rudolf Mine and Terezia Mine but a few hundred years ago there was also Anton Mine, today we chose to go together to visit Rudolf Mine.
Inside the mine the temperature is constant at around 10-12 degrees throughout the year.
We continue our exploration through the salt tunnels and our first stop is at the Franz Josef Gallery also known as the echo gallery, after trying the experience of speaking something at the beginning of the gallery and hearing the echo to what we spoke, this impressed me.
The exploration continues to the part of the mine we are visiting today, the Rudolf Mine, but before we reach that part we have to go down some stairs that the salt seems to have started to swallow, also here we find some rusty objects that were used in the exploitation of the mine hundreds of years ago, and they seem to be swallowed by the salt.
Next in today's exploration we come across the Crivac Hall, wow here I am speechless, this* Crivac* was horse powered and with this mechanism the salt was taken out of the mine.
After a few minutes spent here we move on and go down the Riches Staircase to the Rudolf Mine, and at one point a huge hall opens up with amazing lights, initially I didn't notice that the place I was in was huge.
I was breathless when I saw how high the Rudolf Mine hall was, in a corner I saw that there was access to an elevator, there were a few people waiting to go down into the mine, on a poster I saw that the elevator had a maximum capacity of seven people.
When I entered the elevator I had another amazing experience, the elevator was a panoramic one, even the descent into the mine was an extraordinary experience, the elevator went down 13 floors to the mine, if you are in good shape you have the option to go down the stairs full of salt.
Down in the mine after you recover a little from the excitement that you had before you got there, you can find places to relax, pool tables, golf, tables where you can relax, an amphitheater, also here in the mine you can find a huge wheel in which you can climb to take a ride or whatever you want to see the whole Rudolf Mine from above.
Here you can spend as much time as you want, even all day because it is for your benefit, the air inside the mine is very healthy.
Dear travel lovers this was the first part of our discovery of the Rudolf Mine, in the next post we will go to the other place in the salt mine, the Theresa Mine, which in my opinion is an even more impressive place than the Rudolf Mine, but until then I thank all of you who have stopped by and all of you who support me, and until the next post I say goodbye.
P.S.The pictures attached to today's post and the lines I wrote here are mine.
