Town Hall Tower in Krakow, witness of Polish history
Happy Birthday and Happy New Year to all!
Yes, I don't even know how to start today's post, Christmas and New Year's Eve I celebrated away from home so my contact with this amazing community but also with my friends everywhere was not possible because it was quite complicated to take my laptop with me and my internet connections.
But, returning home with my family, I am slowly trying to resume the activities I had before I went on vacation and also resume my work here in the community.
Today I decided to share with you a place of great importance for Poland, an emblematic place, namely the Town Hall Tower in Krakow.
As you probably already know Krakow has a spectacular history and architecture so let's go to the old city centre and see the Town Hall Tower together.
The history of this tower is not a happy one, the tower was only a part of the old town hall that somewhere in the 19th century burned down and in 1820 it was demolished to make way for today's central square (more info about the history of the Town Hall Tower can be found here).
Having an accommodation a stone's throw from the centre of Krakow it was very easy for us to get here on foot, it being Christmas time everything looks great.
At the entrance to the tower we were greeted by two lions carved in stone.
You will also find a miniature of the Town Hall near the entrance.
Let's go inside.
The entrance ticket here cost us 18PLN/adult/4euro.
If you can't stand narrow spaces this place is not recommended for those people.
The ascent to the top of the tower is not by elevator but on narrow stairs and in some places you have to be careful not to hit your head as the ceiling is quite low.
At the top of the tower you will also find a small museum with a few exhibits but with a lot of information about the history of the tower.
We climbed even higher because we wanted very much to see the panorama of the city, here you must know that you will not have access outside all the exits were blocked, but rest assured that through the windows of the doors you will have an amazing visual show.
I forgot to tell you that at the top of the tower a huge clock can be seen, and we from here inside the tower could even see the clock mechanism.
Visiting the tower as time can be different depending on how much time you give to this objective, but if you don't have too much time at your disposal the visit will take about 40 minutes, but if you want to know more information about what you will find at the museum the time will increase considerably, that depends on you.
That's it, we came down from the tower being richer with what we discovered here, but wait a minute, right here next to the tower is a very interesting sculpture that I want to share with you, a human head.
The sculpture is the work of a very well known Polish sculptor, Igor Mitoraj and bears the name Eros Bendato.
My dear first post of the year 2024 has come to an end.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
