As the spiritual girl, I have a great enthusiasm with pagoda systems, especially in the Southwestern VietNam. In the previous article, I have shared some ancient pagodas in Soc Trang province where I dropped by, therefore, today I would love to introduce another old pagoda to our community. It may not have much more extraordinary features same as others, however, the ambient and history of its are really worthy of note.
Mahatup pagoda (Chùa Dơi) has existed for more than 400 years, has gone through many historical periods and being a witness that observed all the changing of country. The local people often call the bat pagoda cause this is the colony of bats, they resided and lived just for a long time in the past till now. No wonder when one entrances to the main hall, there are a lot of shit of filltermouse on the wall and the roof. That is the trace to identify how they stay and grow up.
According to the local, there are approximately 10000 bats settling here. In the day time, they hang upside down in the big trees, and only fly in the night for foraging food. Some of them fly in and out from the cave creating the mysteious and sacred feeling for the pagoda.
Mahatup pagoda was recognized as a cultural heritage and one of the historical relic sites in the year of 1999. As the result, the pagoda is focused on preserving and keeping from the intentional damages.
From my perspective, this pagoda is totally different from others that I have visited before. The large space in the yard is covered and shadowed by the amount of big trees without the significant features.
I have found the autumn atmostphere in the pagoda!
It is quite strange when I say that, right? But it is totally true ^^. From my deep inside, I do not think this is the place for spiritual, this is the place for watching the vibe and enjoying the silence of mind. I have found the utter auntumn in here, when the yellow leaf falls down, the green moss shades the surface of the path, the dry branches sway in the wind. I just standstill in the handrail, look at around then close my eyes to take on all the feelings in the pagoda ^^. It seems like I can not be short of nature, and even my soul.
Beside the greet vibe, this pagoda also is a place for many stray dogs as well. I meet some of puppies in the yard, they are so playful and happy even though they get some skin-diseases that they ought to be taken care of early.
In the next post, I intend to introduce to you all about another great pagoda in Soc Trang province. So if you are the spiritual traveller, if you wanna visit and explore the cultural beauty of Khmer stage, Soc Trang province in Viet Nam must be listed in your bucket list ^^. A hundred of pagoda is waiting for you here ^^.
Much appreciated all for visiting my blog today. A share or reblog would be a gift for me if you love or interest in my experiences.
