Hello Hive family. Today I want to tell you about a very special place. Datça peninsula is one of the holiday destinations in the westernmost part of Turkey. Datça, which we can call the pearl of the Mediterranean, is a place with a wide variety of natural and local beauties. In this article, I will give general information about Datça and present the photos I took in the center of Datça. In a later article, I will share the bays and surroundings of Datça with you.
Merhaba Hive ailesi. Bugün size çok özel bir yeri anlatmak istiyorum. Datça yarımadası, Türkiye'nin en batısında bulunan tatil yörelerinden birisi. Akdeniz'in incisi diyebileceğimiz Datça, çok çeşitli doğal ve yöresel güzelliklere sahip bir yer. Bu yazıda Datça hakkında genel bilgiler vereceğim, Datça merkezde çektiğim fotoğrafları sunacağım. Daha sonraki bir yazıda da Datça'nın koylarını ve çevresini sizlerle paylaşacağım.
First of all, I should start by talking about the location of Datça. Datça is a holiday town in Muğla and located in the Aegean region. On the other hand, it is thought that the Datça peninsula separates the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea from each other. Actually, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea are the same sea, but the Turks and Greeks call the Aegean Sea a separate sea. This particular naming is a cultural matter. Otherwise, the Aegean Sea is considered as the Mediterranean all over the world.
Öncelikle Datça'nın konumundan bahsederek başlamalıyım. Datça, Muğla'ya bağlı ve Ege bölgesinde yer alan bir tatil ilçesi. Öte taraftan Datça yarımadasının Ege Denizi ve Akdeniz'i birbirinden ayırdığı düşünülür. Aslında Ege Denizi ve Akdeniz aynı denizdir fakat Türkler ve Yunanlar Ege Denizi'ni ayrı bir deniz olarak adlandırırlar. Bu özel adlandırma kültürel bir meseledir. Yoksa dünyanın her yerinde Ege Denizi de Akdeniz olarak değerlendirilir.
Since Datça has an indented structure like the whole Aegean coast, it hosts many large and small coves. These coves add to the beauty of Datça. All of them are like a corner of paradise. In addition, Datça has a very high forest land. Approximately 70% of Datça consists of forests.
Datça da tüm Ege kıyısı gibi girintili çıkıntılı bir yapıya sahip olduğu için irili ufaklı çok sayıda koy barındırır. Bu koylar Datça'nın güzelliğine güzellik katar. Hepsi adeta birer cennet köşesidir. Ayrıca Datça çok yüksek oranda orman arazisine sahiptir. Datça'nın yaklaşık % 70'i ormanlardan oluşur.
The weather in Datça is generally sunny. Winter is experienced only 60 days of the year, and it is warm and rainy. Although the temperature values are high in the summer months, the cool winds of the peninsula alleviate the temperature. It can be visited without sweating, especially in the evenings. This feature distinguishes it from holiday resorts such as Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye in the same region.
Datça'da hava genelde güneşlidir. Yılın sadece 60 günü kış yaşanır, o da ılık ve yağışlı geçer. Yaz aylarında sıcaklık değerleri yüksek olsa da yarımadanın serin rüzgarları sıcaklığı hafifletir. Özellikle akşamları hiç terlemeden gezilebilir. Bu özelliği onu aynı bölgedeki Bodrum, Marmaris ve Fethiye gibi tatil beldelerinden ayırır.
Tourism in Datça started only after the 1970s. Since there was no land transportation facility before, the people of the district made their living from agriculture. With the opening of the highway, tourism has also come into play, but road transportation is not very easy either. For this reason, although Datça is a touristic region, it has remained a more natural and untouched region compared to others. Many places outside the center of Datça still look like villages.
Datça'da turizm ancak 1970'li yıllardan sonra başlayabilmiştir. Öncesinde kara ulaşımı imkanı da olmadığı için ilçe halkı geçimini tarımdan sağlamaktaydı. Karayolu açılması ile birlikte turizm de devreye girmiştir fakat karayolu ulaşımı da çok kolay değildir. Bu sebeple Datça turistik bir bölge olmasına rağmen diğerlerine göre daha doğal ve bakir bir bölge olarak kalabilmiştir. Datça merkez dışındaki birçok yer hala köy görünümündedir.
The food culture in Datça is not very diverse, but it would not be wrong to say that the honey, almond and fish trilogy (3b) is almost integrated with the name of Datça. For example, almonds are put into everything. I even ate the almond meatballs here for the first time in my life, but what I would really recommend is Datça soda with almonds, you should definitely taste it. In addition, there are many restaurants on the beach in the center of Datça and you can go fishing in the evenings. Of course, I should mention that the prices of these meals are also quite high. Apart from these, there are plenty of places selling various local products and you can shop from here or from street vendors at affordable prices.
Datça'da yemek kültürü çok çeşitli değildir fakat bal, badem ve balık üçlemesi (3b) Datça'nın ismiyle adeta bütünleşmiştir dersek çok da yanlış olmaz. Mesela her şeyin içine badem konulur. Hatta hayatımda ilk kez bademli köfteyi de burada yedim ama asıl önereceğim şey bademli Datça gazozudur, kesinlikle tadına bakmalısınız. Ayrıca Datça merkezdeki plaj üzerinde çok fazla restoran bulunur ve akşamları balık yemeye gidilebilir. Tabi bu yemek fiyatlarının da oldukça yüksek olduğunu belirtmeliyim. Bunların dışında çeşitli yöresel ürünler satan yerler fazlasıyla vardır ve uygun fiyata buralardan veya sokak satıcılarından alışveriş yapabilirsiniz.
Now let's see how you can reach Datça! As I just mentioned, Datça's transportation is not very easy. If you want to travel by air, you cannot go directly to Datça. After landing at the international Dalaman airport by plane, you can go by transfer vehicles or by bus. It takes approximately 3 hours from Dalaman to Datça. If you want to go by bus or with your own vehicle, you can pass Marmaris and take the Datça road. You are in Datça after about an hour's one-lane road trip.
Şimdi gelelim Datça'ya nasıl ulaşabileceğinize! Az önce bahsettiğim gibi Datça'nın ulaşımı çok çok kolay değil. Eğer Havayolu ulaşımı yapmak istiyorsanız doğrudan Datça'ya gidemezsiniz. Uçakla uluslararası Dalaman havalimanına indikten sonra transfer araçlarıyla veya otobüsle gidebilirsiniz. Dalaman'dan Datça'ya yaklaşık 3 saat bir yolculuk eder. Otobüsle veya kendi aracınızla gitmek istiyorsanız da Marmaris'i geçip Datça yoluna girersiniz. Yaklaşık bir saatlik tek şeritli bir kara yolculuğunun ardından Datça'dasınız.
