Hoy les comparto una emocionante aventura de mi visita al sector de El Peñón. Ubicado en la Avenida Carúpano, la carretera nacional que conduce a la mencionada ciudad, descubrí un hermoso mural, un espacio dedicado a reconocer a artistas, figuras destacadas, la flora y fauna de la región, y mucho más. El mural presenta senderos y una larga pared con coloridas imágenes que aluden a la ciudad de Cumaná y su paisaje.
Comienza con un bote al atardecer sobre las tranquilas aguas del mar, seguido de pájaros azules posados en ramas con flores azules a ambos lados. Luego aparece una hermosa guacamaya, ave representativa de Venezuela por sus llamativos y vibrantes colores. A continuación, se encuentra la imagen de uno de los atletas más destacados de la región, conocido por ser el primer atleta en ganar una medalla olímpica: Morochito Rodríguez. También se presenta en esta hermosa exhibición el cantante y compositor Remigio "Moncho" Fuentes. Today I'm sharing an exciting adventure from my visit to the El Peñón sector. Located on Avenida Carúpano, the national highway to the aforementioned town, I discovered a beautiful mural, a space dedicated to recognizing artists, prominent figures, the region's flora and fauna, and more. The mural features walkways and a long wall displaying colorful images alluding to the city of Cumaná and its landscape.
It begins with a boat at sunset on the calm waters of the sea, followed by blue birds perched on branches with blue flowers on either side. Then comes a beautiful macaw, a bird representative of Venezuela for its striking and vibrant colors. Next is an image of one of the region's most outstanding athletes, known for being the first athlete to win an Olympic medal, known as Morochito Rodríguez. Also featured in this beautiful display is a singer and composer, Remigio "Moncho" Fuentes. As for the fauna, a beautiful jaguar emerges from the dense mountain, and a macaw soars through the landscape of this region surrounded by various orchids. Another very important figure from the region is the poet Andrés Eloy Blanco, known for his famous poem "Píntame Angelito Negro" (Paint Me, Little Black Angel). In his honor, there is also a house museum located in the city center. The city also boasts iconic figures such as the Tamarind Dwarf, who used to sell newspapers at the roundabout of the same name located near the Bermúdez Avenue bridge. Another prominent figure from the region is the musician Gualberto Ibarrato. A singer and songwriter native to the Benítez municipality, which also has a boulevard located in El Peñón, he has been present at the two crucial moments of the boulevard: its creation in 2020 and its reopening last year. Siguiendo este extenso mural, se encuentra a un destacado músico y compositor conocido como Cruz Quinal, representado tocando la mandolina. Junto a él, una hermosa y colorida tortuga, uno de los animales representativos de la vida marina, y al lado, un periquito de plumaje vibrante. A continuación, se aprecia una hermosa puesta de sol en la playa El Peñón, donde se puede ver la montaña, la cala y un ave en vuelo. Finalmente, una joven del este luce coloridas flores en el cabello y en la blusa.
Otra artista destacada en estos murales es la bailarina y cantante María Rodríguez, conocida por su llamativa apariencia folclórica con flores de hibisco y mariposas en el cabello. Continuing along this extensive mural, you'll find a prominent musician and composer known as Cruz Quinal, depicted playing a mandolin. Then there's a beautiful sunset on El Peñón beach, where you can see the mountain, the cove, and a bird in flight. Finally, there's a young girl from the East adorned with colorful flowers in her hair and on her shirt.
Another prominent artist featured in these murals is the dancer and singer María Rodríguez, known for her striking folkloric appearance with hibiscus flowers and butterflies in her hair. She is followed by a view of the sea, a drifting boat, and birds flying at sunset. Venezuelan indigenous groups are also depicted with their makeup and colorful decorations in their hair and bodies. The next image shows a group of young people fishing at dawn; the sea is a beautiful blue, and a small boat accompanies them on their journey. Another image shows Gualberto Ibarreto at sea with the cuatro, reclining in a boat at sunset; several palm trees and huts can be seen.

The following images depict various examples of marine life, including a large, light pink octopus. Its head and eyes are striking, and several water bubbles surround it. Next is a starfish, part of the octopus's tentacles, corals, reefs, and a view of the seabed. Following this is a shark with very sharp teeth. Due to its size, I divided the photo into two parts: the head and, in the next image, the shark's tail. Several colorful fish swimming among the corals also complete this scene, including a beautiful white fish with white stripes and a yellow and pink tail.
The largest mural is an iguana that spans several meters. To photograph it, I divided it into two parts. In the first part, we see the head surrounded by flowers and fruit. Then, we have a view of the iguana preparing to eat flowers, and its long tail is also visible. The last image shows a girl with multicolored hair. I enjoyed this large mural because of the variety of images and paintings that reflect the culture, flora, fauna, and people of the Eastern region. Thank you for joining me on this adventure.
