Hello Hiveans! Are you fond of outdoor activities and life-sized dinosaurs? Campuestohan Highland Resort is a great place for you. It was in November 2018 when my family and I visited this mountain resort. My big brother wanted to go somewhere that he had not been to. During that time, my mother had a convention in Bacolod City. So we grabbed the opportunity and followed her when the summit was about to end.

THE ARRIVAL
A trip to the city of smiles
To get to Bacolod City, it was an hour flight from Cebu. We stayed for a night in the city and went off to Campuestohan a day after. Campuestohan is located in the mountainous area of Talisay, Negros Occidental, which is also an hour away from Bacolod City.
Just passing by the vast fields while on our way to Talisay
Our trip from Bacolod City to Talisay was really peaceful. All I could see were green sceneries like sugarcane and rice fields. Even if we went there after lunch, the area was still a bit cool because of the high altitude of the place.
The windmills of your mind
When we got there, tourist vans and cars were lining up to the entrance gate. Since it was a weekend and there were lots of delegates who also joined the same convention with my mother, it was expected to see a large crowd of vacationers around. If you want to have a calmer mood, it's best to go there during off-season months.
Fireplace cuddles
When we were able to park, we were directed to a windmill-like building to confirm our booking. As we entered, I could feel the Christmas spirit with all those rustic wooden designs. I can just imagine drinking hot choco with marshmallows while feeling the warmth of the burning logs of the fireplace.
Rustic vibes of the lobby/dining area
Aside from the receiving area, the windmill also had rooms upstairs. For us, we booked a tepee or a tent-like room that can accommodate the 6 of us. I was kind of hesitant if we could fit comfortably in one tepee. When we were done, we were accompanied to our room.

Bonita Hut
Along the way, we saw other themed rooms like the bonita huts, which looked like the hobbit house and the log cabin rooms. What I didn't notice was that there were other rooms scattered around in some of the life-sized creatures.
Welcome to our village
When we finally arrived at our room, I was amazed by the tepee room. From outside, you wouldn't expect that it is an air-conditioned room that would fit two double decker beds and had its own comfort room. Unlike the traditional tepees that are made of animal skin or canvas, those in Campuestohan is really sturdy because it was made of concrete. The air-conditioner should be turned on most of the time to be comfortable inside.
Have a visit to our humble abode
We settled in through the night and ate our baons at the table just outside our tent. As it was getting late, it was also getting colder outside. My sweater and pajamas really came in handy. We stayed a bit there to do some stargazing but eventually got in as the cold breeze just blew on our faces.
DINO PARK
Overwhelmingly huge creatures
Just a walk in the park
The following day, we went out a little late. We hadn't seen the sun rise but we were still ecstatic that the weather was not gloomy. We could surely take countless picturesque scenes. We took a quick breakfast at the restaurant pavilion and hopped out to find some dinosaurs.
Restaurant pavilion
Just near the area, we already spotted these two very huge dinosaurs facing each other. As if they were going to start a fight or they were just glaring at each other. I could just remember when I was younger, I kept on watching
Land Before Time. It was an animated film featuring young dinosaur friends and their adventures. The taller dino looked like
Little Foot and his family.

I wasn't so familiar with the specific dinosaur name of the Little-foot-like dino but I was pretty certain that the shorter one (but still huge) was the Tyrannosaurus Rex or T. Rex because of its sharp teeth and short arms. Funny memes were even made due to its disproportionate arms relative to its body.
Oh, hello there!
Contender 1: The tall one
Contender 2: The brawny one
As we moved further to discover other sights in Campuestohan, we saw more dinosaurs and they were already moving! At the dino park, different dinosaur species were around with added movements and sound effects.
Peek-a-boo!
I'm coming out!

Lookin' for me?
Let me out!
Is that you Nagini?
Just within the area, we saw one of the themed accommodations, which looked like a cave. Their souvenir shop entrance also looked like a dinosaur's mouth ready to devour you.

Numerous life-sized figures or bigger than the real thing were scattered at different spots in Campuestohan. I didn't expect that the massive King Kong and mammoth figures had rooms inside too. Since it was a month before Christmas, King Kong was dressed as a Santa Claus. I also saw Mr. Snowman melting nearby.

Who needs an after-shave?
Santa Kong, where are my presents?

Freeze!

Mr. Snowman don't melt yet!

Lots of outdoor activities to choose from
Campuestohan have rope courses, zipline, hamsterwheel, cable paraglide and other outdoor activities like horseback riding. Most especially, they have their wave pool called the Shark Wave. Do you know what it means to swim in the pool on a highland? Goosebumps, shivering bodies and some wrinkled skin! Especially when the cold breeze passed by, we just wanted to stay underwater than to feel the cool air piercing on our faces.
Up, up and away!
Just don't look down

I think this hanging bridge is sturdy enough

Where's the shark?
Nice mountain view by the pool
Bubble party!
There's still room for us!
Campuestohan may have lots of activities and facilities to offer but what I love the most is its serene spots away from the huge crowd.

Just waiting for ducks to come
Cute tree house
Most of the time, travelling lets us discover more about a person. You get to know more about his/her routines, fears and how he/she handles dilemmas. Even for this short trip, I get to know some of the traits of our family members. The love of taking photos and selfies is common for all of us expect for my mother, wherein I can barely see her in the pictures. Then the winner for the most difficult to wake up in the morning is my niece. We should also let our father eat on time because he gets angry when he is hungry. Whatever we discover with our travel buddies, let it be a way to learn from it and be able to adjust with each other's differences. In this way, we can have fun and enjoy the trip. I hope you enjoy one of my Travel Memories!

Love Lots,
